Anyone work at Optum able to help me with a question? I was reviewing Optum’s employee benefits package and noticed that their health insurance package for the normal plan is like $366/pay or roughly 732/month? Am I reading that right? That seems incredibly high for a healthcare company; especially since the package has a $1,800 deductible and $3,600 out of pocket max? That’s just insane to me! Please someone let me know if I’m reading their data right?

    Pros

I hope to never work for Mercy again.

    Cons

Did not pay a fair and competitive wage for a person with 5 years experience. Applied for day shift position, there was never a day shift position available. High overturn rate. Poor management.

    Pretty Happy

Mar 28, 2016 - Telemetry Monitor Tech in Joplin, MO

    Pros

Great benefits starting out. Your first day you are eligible for insurance and you start accruing PTO automatically - no waiting a year to use it. You can earn extra money quarterly via their Healthification program. They do have great benefits and in my particular department it's pretty easy to get time off. I love the vision and story of Mercy's roots.

    Cons

Like with all big organizations, communication amongst management can be lacking and it can get frustrating (sometimes impossible) trying to get issues corrected. I've heard their pay is lower than compared to other local hospitals but I can't verify that as the absolute truth.

    Supervisor

    Pros

Co-workers, supervisors, and most managers are very supportive and work hard , and want the best for everyone around them. You can pray at work and say things like Merry Christmas, God bless you, have a blessed day, etc.

    Cons

The pay could be better I know that it's hard to get top notch people and keep them because of the lower pay. Some of the higher ups tend to want things done that are not realistic and say that they listen to your ideas when in reality they don't hear you, and only want a yes answer to their ideas, and don't even try to explain why certain things may not work, it will fall upon deaf ears, why? because they went to college for 4 years and think they have everything figured out, when actually they have forgotten how the real world works, or they never knew because they were always spoiled and never had to work with regular people.

Great people and they were very flexible with my college schedule. Very understanding and an average workload. Worked there for 4 years.

The main downside es the pay. I worked in environmental services and the pay was very small for a full time position.

Leadership is transitioning toward you inexperience leaders without background knowledge or experience. Organization is top heavy because have too many levels of management and large pay discrepancy between senior leadership and middle management. Leadership must practice servant leadership. Leadership is focus too much on the short term and is reactionary.
