    I have been working at MercyFirst full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The managerial staff is second to none! I work very closely with the Vice President for Care management and the Senior Vice President for Foster Care services and they are down to earth, approachable and respectful. I can't say the same about other places I've worked where management has been unapproachable. My supervisor is very emphatic, smart and a great leader. The company recently gave raises to its employees and promotional opportunities are available. MercyFirst believes in hiring from within as well.

    I have met several people who have been working at MercyFirst for more than 10 years! That's a good sign that MercyFirst is a good place to work.

    Cons

    I work in an old building but we are moving to a new one in February! I have some loud coworkers, but at least they are quiet most of the time!

    Advice to Management

    Please continue to emphasize the sanctuary values of open communication, democracy and growth for staff and with clients!

    Pros

    Flexible- great start off company- friendly atmosphere-CEO is very nice and personable- office staff amazing- no way you can ever work for a nicer family oriented place- fabulous holiday parties- great food at meetings- great trainings and head trainer victor is so nice- director and supervisor are absolutely amazing and understanding- working in a set zone never have to travel too far out of the area. Private office away from upper management- clean safe environment- located in safe areas in Brooklyn- close to all transportation

    Cons

    No raises ever No bonus ever No room to ever grow if you are only a BSW and they only give you a few hundred for school and you can only get it once. If someone comes in with less experience but has a masters they will promote them before you so no loyalty which is very sad

    Advice to Management

    Show your employees who have been here for years more loyalty let them advance show them that you care about the hard work they do risking their lives sometimes to go into dangerous neighborhood and homes and maybe you wouldn't have a high turnover rate.

    Get to help children who are in need

    Cons

    You do not receive raises unless the government passes laws etc.
    plethora of work for very little pay
    A lot of rules to follow

    The overnights are the easiest shifts. Some of the other staff that you work with..

    Cons

    Staff politics. The pay is very low. Can be fired too easily. Management needs to appreciate employees more,

    Treat workers with dignity and learn to care about their needs and wants. Treat them fairly.

    You find a great support system based on where you work.

    Cons

    The safety from the clients you work with can be stressing and an issue at times. The pay could be a little more.

    Pros

    There work with the youth is beneficial. The work of the treatment teams help make a difference in the lives of the youth. The CST team and YSC staff are always on point and go above and beyond.

    Cons

    The pay isn't equal to the amount of work you do. Staff often feel over worked and under appreciated.

    Advice to Management

    Work on giving more incentives to the staff that work hard such as those on the treatment teams, CST, Caseworkers, and YSC staff.

    They promote from within, you get to do direct care work with children who need it, upper management cares about the staff

    Cons

    Irregular hours, high stress, no raises or bonuses, not enough training when you first enter the position
