I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generally the other people at the company at nice and fun to work with, although that may also depend upon which section of the company you work in.

    Cons

This is a magazine publisher so it is expected that salaries aren't huge but I think they could do a better job properly paying their employees. They also pay a ton of people hourly and have them listed as freelance but in reality they work there full time. Those people of course don't get health benefits or paid vacation.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have worked at Meredith in the past and have accepted a position to work there for the second time. They have a truly unique company with a great culture, and I am excited to return. Based on my experience, I would describe my co-workers as collaborative, creative, intelligent and on a personal level, genuine and thoughtful. Culture there puts a strong emphasis on work/life balance, so you will be glad to come to work and do your best. This is a chord that runs throughout and makes a huge difference in the work environment.

    Cons

As a graphic designer with a strong background in print, I wanted to get more experience in digital media. The only reason I left Meredith in the first place was to pursue what at the time was a better learning opportunity. Hoping they put more emphasis on digital media in the future.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Digital and Marketing teams in NY were incredibly welcoming and warm (the only reason I gave 2-stars), made good friends in the NY office, work was painfully easy

    Cons

Very low salary, no autonomy in the accounts I managed, chauvinist boys-club culture from Seattle runs digital operations, misogynistic men were placed in a position to dictate digital content and direction for WOMEN'S brands (Martha Stewart, etc.), to much executive self-importance, very poor leadership overall and in my particular team, no road to success for employees

Due to a grossly lacking leadership structure within teams, individuals empower themselves to take on imaginary leadership roles, unchecked. Whether intentional or unintentional it creates a horribly tense and hostile work environment which oozes with toxicity and distaste amongst colleagues. Individuals that should partners are made to be adversaries as opposed to partners. It should never be the case where a party is held because an individual, who is known to be incredibly vile, goes on leave.

    Advice to Management

Hire a more diverse leadership team that is actually representative of the brands the company owns. Stop trying to relive your frat days from 30 years ago and empower stakeholders to succeed.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall, conservative company with many good and talented employees in headquarters offices.

    Cons

Company always quick to retreat from challenging quarters by cutting/closing businesses, to have a positive story of change for the markets.

    Advice to Management

You have great brand sellers, time to look hard at your overall approach and your corporate sales organization, which is weak at best.
