I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love working for Meredith. There is always room to grow, people are all very nice and genuine and I have learned so much valuable information working for them. The work environment is very relaxed and everyone has fun together. I recommend working for Meredith to everyone. They are a great company.

    Cons

    I don't have any cons.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Digital and Marketing teams in NY were incredibly welcoming and warm (the only reason I gave 2-stars), made good friends in the NY office, work was painfully easy

    Cons

Very low salary, no autonomy in the accounts I managed, chauvinist boys-club culture from Seattle runs digital operations, misogynistic men were placed in a position to dictate digital content and direction for WOMEN'S brands (Martha Stewart, etc.), to much executive self-importance, very poor leadership overall and in my particular team, no road to success for employees

Due to a grossly lacking leadership structure within teams, individuals empower themselves to take on imaginary leadership roles, unchecked. Whether intentional or unintentional it creates a horribly tense and hostile work environment which oozes with toxicity and distaste amongst colleagues. Individuals that should partners are made to be adversaries as opposed to partners. It should never be the case where a party is held because an individual, who is known to be incredibly vile, goes on leave.

    Advice to Management

Hire a more diverse leadership team that is actually representative of the brands the company owns. Stop trying to relive your frat days from 30 years ago and empower stakeholders to succeed.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation (More than a year)

    Pros

High profile accounts, kind and understanding co-workers, usually a balanced work/personal life, part of a larger corporation, room for growth, consistent work, experienced teams

    Cons

Lacks strong leadership, merged and grew some accounts too fast, siloed business models, out-of-date technologies, disregard for professional/personal development unless it's corporate-driven

    Advice to Management

Create a team dedicated to on-boarding, continuous training, and hands-on HR represetation

I worked at Meredith Corporation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Incredibly creative colleagues, opportunities to develop new products, innovation is valued.

    Cons

Layoffs and title changes are a way of life at Meredith. Enter their workplace knowing you could be gone in a minute. They are not used to outsiders, i.e. people who have not been at Meredith for a very long time. If you aren't, be prepared to scrap together an onboarding, understand there will not be people to help you and it will be your own trouble, not theirs.

    Advice to Management

An onboarding process for 'newbies' would be an excellent idea. A mentor in the division. There is no one to ask about even the most basic things if you haven't worked at Meredith before.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Meredith hires competent people and it was a pleasure to work with highly skilled and hardworking teams.

    Cons

Beyond shareholder value, priorities and strategies are fuzzy and shifting. Meredith is infamous for regular layoffs and they rely heavily on cutting workforce to meet short term objectives.

    Advice to Management

Invest in training to help employees develop new skills in the rapidly changing media sector. Improve communication between executives and workforce.

401k and pension plan is very generous and time off is good

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall, conservative company with many good and talented employees in headquarters offices.

    Cons

Company always quick to retreat from challenging quarters by cutting/closing businesses, to have a positive story of change for the markets.

    Advice to Management

You have great brand sellers, time to look hard at your overall approach and your corporate sales organization, which is weak at best.
