I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Promotes education & creativity. Also the environment was educational. The HR was very helpful when it came down to me dealing with grievance after loosing a family member.

    Cons

Be ready to put in more than an average days work in the broadcast industry. There would be at times a handful of employees calling out sick and therefore our regular 9 hour day would turn into a 12 to 16 hr day.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the promotion of creativity!

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Smart, savvy, collaborative colleagues with inventive ideas were a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Top-heavy traditional male management with finance acumen focused on shareholder return, not employees.

    Advice to Management

Research proves the most successful companies have at least 50 percent female top managers.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some very talented people within the ranks.

    Cons

Pay scale is very top-heavy. Even as an experienced professional, salary was well below industry standard. Stuck in old business practices. Lots of people that are dead weight and simply play the role of an unnecessary intermediary between parties.

    Advice to Management

Do an internal review of who does what on a day-to-day basis. You'll be shocked how many people literally do nothing all day and have 6-figure salaries.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Free snacks and soda fountains
    - Nice location
    - Large turnover rate, so probably lots of positions available

    Cons

    - Extremely low worker morale
    - Management is not receptive to ideas or suggestions from employees
    - Poor project planning, often starting projects with no clear idea of what needs to be done or what goals are
    - Nonsensical development practices, leading to an inordinate amount of bugfixing needing to be done following every release

    Advice to Management

There should be a lot less management and a lot more focus on building team morale from the bottom up. Employees should be encouraged to give feedback and suggestions when discussing new ideas, not punished for questioning their managers.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They acquired lots of great brands

    Cons

Since the acquisition with Time Inc, they don't care about employees that aren't legacy Meredith. Management is green and inexperienced, they have no journalistic integrity and all benefits are worse than before. They don't care about quality content, they just want to leverage brands for market positioning.

    Advice to Management

Value the people that made Time Inc good enough to buy, instead of dragging those employees down to your level.
