    Pros

Great people that work very hard and are passionate about making things better.

    Cons

General Manager hiring/selection practices for the local media group has proven to be a weakness for Meredith. One particular GM has been allowed to create a hostile work environment for over two years resulting in substantial turnover at the location.

    Advice to Management

Do not ignore those who are reporting retaliation/hostile work issues and ultimately accept these behaviors.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

•Several nice colleagues who take pride in their work
•Good on-site fitness facility with several classes
•Somewhat flexible workday to accommodate doctor appointments, kids' school programs, etc.

    Cons

•Very poor work-life balance. Almost everyone is doing two or three times as much work as they did three years ago. When a colleague leaves, their position is generally left unfilled for months or years and their work is absorbed by others.
    •Minimal room for advancement.
•Raises are every other year if you're lucky.
•Morale is at an all-time low
    •Frequent layoffs
•Huge divide between management and workers

    Advice to Management

Share the wealth with your loyal employees and relate more to their needs and concerns.

    Pros

You get a paycheck...but it might not be worth it. To work here, you must surrender (or at least suspend) all hope, dreams, and passion.

    Cons

It is a mediocre company filled with mediocre people who have mediocre goals in life. It is the most depressing and frustrating place you will ever work. If this place were a color, it would be tan.

    Advice to Management

Live in the now. Not the 15-20 years ago. Stop spending all this time pretending to chase millennials when you refuse to listen to the ones that work for you.

    Pros

select brands are good - if you need to fill in an employment gap look here

    Cons

    awful management
    no upwards mobility
selective hiring practices based on who you know at the company or if you're female, how hot you look
management downplays your contributions in order to try and convince you that you don't deserve better (you do!)

    Advice to Management

see the honest negative feedback on here and overhaul your offices

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time

    Pros

I'm no longer there. They have good optics owning female centric magazines. But, the senior leadership there couldn't be more anti-woman.

    Cons

All around misogynistic company with no regard for its employees. AWFUL. Would never work here even for a high paying job. Avoid with your life.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to take cultural competency training and learn more about equal rights for employees.

    Pros

Free comp magazine subscriptions from all publications.

    Cons

Literally everything about this job. If you enjoy working in a company that prescribes to gender norms, alienates you for not having a feminine persona, and is actively republican, then Meredith is the company for you.

I was bullied by my boss, but due to her higher position could not go to HR to file former complaints. I gracefully gave my 2 weeks notice, and Meredith marked my records as "terminated."

    Advice to Management

Be compassionate and embrace your dying medium.

    Pros

Working in an Air Conditioned office, having a paycheck, knowing you are more competent than your boss (this is also a con). Having a boss too preoccupied flirting with all the male sales associates to know you have been gone for two hour lunches. Obviously none of this is an actual "pro" about doing real work.

    Cons

Benefits are horrible: you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get insured. HR incompetency: I actually sat in the break room to watch the director of HR organize magazines for over 10 minutes. There were a total of 6 magazines. If you have a concern, or a legitimate question about benefits, employee rights, etc. you are out of luck because HR is useless. She has no background of ever working in a broadcasting environment. She was brought on board to allow the general manager to continue wasting money, making bad decisions and leaving a trail of mess for others to work around.

I can tell you without a doubt that your soul will die if you work here. You will see and hear illegal activity happen all the time. You will know everyone's dirty business because they gossip about it daily and wear their disgusting bad morals proudly like a badge.

You will be more competent than your boss. This will upset you greatly as they can barely type up an email, work an excel spreadsheet or make an actual executive decision that doesn't morally destroy your department.

The overwhelming amount of turnover is disgusting. Ask to see how long someone has been working in your department and where they came from before. People are being hired for next to zero experience and making about the same as you.

I have no love for this company. After working in other offices I can tell you this company is a joke. A very unfunny one.

    Advice to Management

Why give advice? They do not listen.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time

    Pros

    A paycheck with decent benefits.

    Cons

Very low pay. I worked at two Meredith TV stations that were number one in the ratings, but we were paid less than employees at all of our competitors. Because the company pays less, they get lower quality managers, including high up management. This leads to poor communication company-wide and poor working environments.

    Advice to Management

Focus on understanding the jobs of the people you manage, and when it comes to news, concentrate on fair coverage. KPTV Fox 12 in Portland, Oregon purposely pushed a far left wing liberal agenda because that's how management wants it to be. This is not good journalism.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most of my co-workers are good people who try hard, doing their best with very limited resources and staff.

    Cons

There have been several failed sales/mergers of the company, and numerous layoffs of some very talented people. Employee development is non-existent. Upper management is grossly over-compensated compared to the folks getting the work done, and seems intent on paring down the company's headcount and expenses to make it attractive for sale.

    Advice to Management

Focus on growing the company and developing its people, not selling it and reaping your golden parachutes.
