I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work life balance. Enjoyed working there and would recommend to younger employees. Coworkers were friendly and great to work with.

    Cons

Corporate environment with little room for growth. Loyalty is a one way street for workers in their 50's. Dozens of my colleagues got laid off after working at Meredith for decades.

    Advice to Management

Don't tell your long-term employees how important they are and have been, and then fire them like they are an outdated product.

    Pros

Vacation and health benefits right away. Reimburse you for gym memberships and free magazines

    Cons

Pay was low and raises were a joke. Turn over was high

    Advice to Management

I worked at Meredith Corporation as a contractor

    Pros

The company treated me like I was a full time employee and I felt that I was part of the team. I was led to believe that I would be hired full time.

    Cons

The magazine with which I worked folded and it was done very abruptly. No opportunity to have a plan to share with clients.

    Advice to Management

If you know that there will be a closing, have a solid plan in action to share with clients so it will be more professionally handled.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generally the other people at the company at nice and fun to work with, although that may also depend upon which section of the company you work in.

    Cons

This is a magazine publisher so it is expected that salaries aren't huge but I think they could do a better job properly paying their employees. They also pay a ton of people hourly and have them listed as freelance but in reality they work there full time. Those people of course don't get health benefits or paid vacation.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation (More than a year)

    Pros

High profile accounts, kind and understanding co-workers, usually a balanced work/personal life, part of a larger corporation, room for growth, consistent work, experienced teams

    Cons

Lacks strong leadership, merged and grew some accounts too fast, siloed business models, out-of-date technologies, disregard for professional/personal development unless it's corporate-driven

    Advice to Management

Create a team dedicated to on-boarding, continuous training, and hands-on HR represetation

I worked at Meredith Corporation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Incredibly creative colleagues, opportunities to develop new products, innovation is valued.

    Cons

Layoffs and title changes are a way of life at Meredith. Enter their workplace knowing you could be gone in a minute. They are not used to outsiders, i.e. people who have not been at Meredith for a very long time. If you aren't, be prepared to scrap together an onboarding, understand there will not be people to help you and it will be your own trouble, not theirs.

    Advice to Management

An onboarding process for 'newbies' would be an excellent idea. A mentor in the division. There is no one to ask about even the most basic things if you haven't worked at Meredith before.
