    Pros

Large company with decent audience scale across the brand portfolio

    Cons

No innovation, dusty business model. They restructure almost annually, which is their code for reducing head count.

    Advice to Management

Hard to generate revenue when you keep reducing the number of revenue producers.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clean work environment, good benefits, pay for cell phone plan

    Cons

Print leads everything here. The websites are turned into glorified print subscription drivers instead of innovative digital standalone properties. Innovation and creativity in digital is bragged about but the only thing the company has going for them is their data. Staff comp plans and payout brackets are unattainable. Unrealistic growth is expected with no real strategy on how to achieve it. Mediocre talent is celebrated. People with ideas and creativity are stifled and told to conform to the "Meredith way".

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. You say Meredith is all about Women, and yet there are no women in upper management. There are no leaders for your predominantly female staff to look up to as mentors.

Take a look at what the industry is actually doing in digital instead of trying to prop up stale digital offerings with mediocre marketing materials.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As with most media companies... there are a lot of people that work really hard, on tight deadlines. These are the lifeblood of a television station

    Cons

As with most media companies... upper management is disconnected from the people that do the daily work, and would rather examine numbers that can cut costs rather than reward success.

    Advice to Management

The New Upper Management at this location bullies people who challenge his authority. They eventually leave or quit, and he looks to hire someone he can push around.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

•Several nice colleagues who take pride in their work
•Good on-site fitness facility with several classes
•Somewhat flexible workday to accommodate doctor appointments, kids' school programs, etc.

    Cons

•Very poor work-life balance. Almost everyone is doing two or three times as much work as they did three years ago. When a colleague leaves, their position is generally left unfilled for months or years and their work is absorbed by others.
    •Minimal room for advancement.
•Raises are every other year if you're lucky.
•Morale is at an all-time low
    •Frequent layoffs
•Huge divide between management and workers

    Advice to Management

Share the wealth with your loyal employees and relate more to their needs and concerns.

    Pros

Quality products are produced here. People care about their jobs.

    Cons

Sometimes feel like we are a lower class compared to other departments. We should be working together, not for other magazines.

    Advice to Management

Make us feel like we belong to the company, not as a service to the other groups.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great staff, smart people. Company is progressive, but lots of upper management changes. Editors and marketing people are the best. Senior management is accessible. Steve Lacey is a good smart leader, but not as hands on as he use to be.

    Cons

Uncertain and changing environment for print makes everyone jittery and job security is non-existent. So many silos it's hard to know all that is going on in the company. Being a publicly traded company you live and die by the short term numbers.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic. Decreasing staff and increasing work load and territory and expecting the same result is unreasonable. People can only be at one place at a time and there are only so many hours in a day. This business changes and moves so fast, things can and will fall through the cracks if not properly staffed.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues and there is a good work/ life balance. Good opportunities to work collaboratively with other brands within the company.

    Cons

There is a constant fear of job security. Shareholders are more valued than employees. The company boasts of enormous profits but goes 2+ years without providing cost of living raises, which are between .5 and 3%. For a company about women, there are almost no women in management. Most are marginalized and many are let go during the constant re-orgs.

    Advice to Management

Make your employees feel valued. Particularly those who are not commission-based and often overlooked.
