    Pros

there were some "pros" before IBM purchased this company, but none at this time

    Cons

top heavy because of previous acquisitions - too many managers, too many levels of management
bought by IBM - IBM is now laying off many older, long-time employees under the guise of "they refuse to relocate". great opportunity for kids that want temporary employment until they can find a company that knows what it's doing.
no bonuses given for 2016 (at least not for the bottom level employees)

    Advice to Management

the previous owners/shareholders in Merge made out big when they sold out to IBM. not sure what current management can do to dig their way out of the hole.

    Pros

Company was recently acquired by another company which has big plans for future growth and new products. Most people are looking forward to growth under the new company.

    Cons

Many of old management styles still remain that makes for a difficult time on some projects. Change orders can be very slow to be processed as they are not wanting to change financial forecasts.

    Advice to Management

Learn and grow to be a better company and listen more to your customers before they decide to stop working with us and leave for another vendor.

    Pros

good 401k thanks to Ibm, that is all

    Cons

merge is a company built on acquiring other companies, stripping them down, putting products they buy into maintenance mode and not developing them further, and bleeding the customer bases dry. They have no concept of customer satisfaction, priority number one is pushing the sale even if it's something we can't implement or does not make sense for a customer. Because all they know how to do is acquire and destroy, they have no idea how to develope something on their own that actually works (iconnect network for example). Now Ibm thinks merge is going to be able to help release new products utilizing the Watson engine this year, not holding my breath on that one. All departments are silos and getting them to work together is impossible, there is a culture of if it does not fall into my job description leave me alone. Their sales leadership can be best compared to that of a used car salesman. They litteraly would rather have their sales people sit at a prospects site for the last two weeks of the quarter and endlessly beg for the deal even if they have been told no decision will be made by then. Nepotism runs rampant, the high level positions held by a number of upper managers who have zero qualifications to be in that position is amazing. Upper management would rather have allies and yes men around them rather than hire someone who could implement meaningful change and question the current conditions.

    Advice to Management

IBM should clean house of upper management, only way there can be institutional changes to fix this pig.

    Pros

    People are nice and welcoming
    Good compensation
    Part of IBM now

    Cons

No work life balance. I was told that I'd be worked like a dog here before I accepted the job, and boy it is true. The Management micro manages all their employees. They stop you from taking PTO at times. Everything you do, say, and even think is being watched.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro managing your employees. it makes the work day dreadful and stressful. Understand that we have lives outside of work.
