I worked at Meridian Health Services full-time

    Pros

Most direct care workers are genuinely concerned about providing good care of their clients.

    Cons

They make you jump through many hoops to gain employment. Your efforts go under appreciated by management. Write ups come from lack of support of the direct staff by supervision. Training of staff suffers. Trainers have no teaching backgrounds so it's early elementary level types of trainings.
Expectations of time given unpaid is highly expected.
Benefits are awful unable to even effective use what is provided based on pay.

    Advice to Management

Look into improving the working culture of the employees.
When looking at the high turn overs examine the ways the management teams operate with the direct service positions.
Providing a healthy work environment is essential taking care of the health of the employees responsible for healthcare of others.

I worked at Meridian Health Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Meridian has a knack for hiring "nice" people. Peer relationships are mostly pleasant, with many employees being very dedicated to providing good client care

    Cons

DON T WORK HERE. Terrible organization. Low pay, poor health insurance benefits, no raises, overly large case loads, very limited opportunities for supervision or guidance with very challenging clientele. There is way too much management , and management is totally disconnected from the day to day challenges that their employees face. There is constant turnover due to unhappy employees and management is heavy handed and quick to write up, or fire employees at the blink of an eye. Absolutely no value is placed upon loyalty , or upon appreciating dedicated workers. Client care is secondary to the companies desire to make money. Horrible place to work. Save yourself the heartache .

    Advice to Management

Focus more upon creating a healthy work environment with decent compensation and good working conditions. Pay attention to the high turnover rate... there is a reason that you cannot retain good employees

I worked at Meridian Health Services full-time

    Pros

    PTO, flexible schedule, nothing else

    Cons

Like most jobs in mental health/ social work, the salary is meager at best. Work/ life balance laughable. Management is only concerned about billing Medicaid, not providing quality care to clients

I worked at Meridian Health Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with the clientele is really rewarding. There is ample opportunity to create your own program and go forward with your own ideas.

    Cons

The pay is really below industry standard. There doesn't seem to always be opportunities to advance within the company. Executive management is really disconnected from what happens on a day-to-day basis at the organization.

    Advice to Management

Listen to people who work at the bottom. Listen to your clientele.

    Pros

Plenty training opportunities, although you will have to find your own replacement for your schedule.

    Cons

High turnover rate, even the managers. Not enough backup plans, will work short staff if someone calls in.
