I worked at Merit Medical Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

On site food court, clean bathrooms, some fellow employees, having a locker, covered parking.

    Cons

Hours! Mandatory overtime, pay is lousy, managers for production are horrible.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees! I had to go to HR about my supervisor touching me and nothing was done. When I say touching, literally inappropriate, not over exaggerating. Pay is terrible! We work our tails off and get paid pennies. Give some incentives to the employees and show appreciation. You make it difficult to have any sort of life outside of work with all the overtime.

I have been working at Merit Medical Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not much! Company doesn't respect employees. Unless you are upper management!

    Cons

Mandatory overtime, most of it same day! The pay is vey very pathetic! The benefits are awful, the time off is a joke. Every problem that is brought up to management gets swept under the rug! They force people to work unrealistic hours. Bottom line work for a company that respects ALL employees equally!!

    Advice to Management

Come into the clean room and actually see what's going on. Don't just look at a piece of paper to determine overtime. Listen to your employees!!

I have been working at Merit Medical Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have a high turnover rate so feel free to apply.

    Cons

Taking advantage of cheap labor in Utah.
Night shift will forego rules that slow down processes like not giving enough time to separate orders and just let employees play catch up to run more product than day shift. Night shift will use less people on the line and work them faster.

    Advice to Management

Do not be annoying and sloth around because labor positions are hurting through finger strain etc and basically getting forced to work with minimal work force at fastest speed possible for them.

    Pros

There are good hours, and paid time off.

    Cons

No opportunity to move up. (Hire outside) no positive feedback from management. Someone set me up to fire me, ruining my reputation and making it difficult to find another job. They would promise bonuses and then change their mind.

    Advice to Management

Try treating people with respect for a change.

Horrible management and some reps have been there so long they have no clue what is actually going on.

    Advice to Management

You really don't know everything. Some of the older reps are out of touch.

I have been working at Merit Medical Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

hard working people. Feels like family. If you like steady hrs and consistent pay and love overtime. Variety of shifts available

    Cons

If your not an engineer or not in any prestigious position, this is a "DEAD END JOB". Your in the wrong place if your planning to go to school, they will not compromise and hrs are very demanding, you would be mentally exhausted. No raises or bonuses.
As far as opportunity, yes there are plenty of open positions "FOR A REASON". If the high turnover rate doesn't speak for its self. I've seen many talented and smart people come and go cause they always find better options. Experience trained operators are constantly leaving due to lack of reward or incentives.
Around 2008 during the market crash, Merit received a higher volume of applicants which made them confident that no raises to employees were required to encourage them to stay, playing there fear of loosing there jobs. Nothing's changed since.

    Advice to Management

Give the employees a reason to stay. Putting share holders first is understandable but not at the expense of the employees who put forth the effort and dedication.
You might actually save money for the amount of training and resources put into every new employee that comes and goes.

    Pros

Lots of experience, low learning curve, easy to excel, and great co-workers for the most part

    Cons

Their compensation is on par for the industry, but the work-life balance makes it untenable. People who work long hours, weekends, and produce good steady results are not rewarded. No real opportunities for promotions unless you threaten to quit. Clear evidence of favoritism within the facility and the company. Very negative, hostile work environment. If you don't say "yes" to upper management then you don't have a chance of any kind of promotion or raise. If you're there for experience, get it and get out.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your hard workers, invest less on the people who don't know what they're doing. Don't punish the people who are doing good work for the shortcomings of people who don't know how to do work. Good work ethic and production of positive results should be rewarded and recognized, not ignored and piled on with a greater workload to compensate for the unproductive people
