I have been working at Merit Medical Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are a few pros like the cafeteria, coffee cart, and onsite care clinic. They match your 401k contribution and add funds to your HSA account.

    Cons

Merit will let good employees go without reason, yet they keep the ones who delegate everything and do not work. They will give positive feedback to employees one day and then fire them the next. This has happened on multiple occasions.
There is also lack of training, which means many employees do not know how to properly do their job. They have to rely on other employees with "tribal knowledge." Doesn't work out very well when the employees with all the knowledge are fired or quit.

    Advice to Management

Communication, communication, and more communication. I can not stress this enough. You are losing great employees because of horrible management.

I worked at Merit Medical Systems as an intern

    Pros

    Exposure to many manufacturing projects
Work side by side with engineers in clean rooms and testing labs
Management and supervisors are easy to approach and very helpful

    Cons

Very repetitive, testing protocols are monotonous and boring at times
No structured intern program, only get tasks when they come up
    Slow paced

    Advice to Management

Come up with a structured intern program with specified tasks for the intern to complete over the course of the internship.

    Pros

Success is based on whether or not you have visibility with CEO, Fred Lampropoulos. He is a visionary and two years ahead of his competition.

    Cons

Some executive management is not trustworthy and lack leadership skills. Bullying is not a form of leadership. HR is not strategic. Some departments have great resources while others limp along in the dark ages.

    Advice to Management

Train executive leaders to treat employees with dignity and respect.

I have been working at Merit Medical Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most people are enjoyable to work with. There is a cafeteria and an onsite care clinic. There is talk of an onsite dental clinic in the future. I appreciate the employer contribution to the HSA and 401K.

    Cons

Too many politics and not enough employee appreciation. Too many family members work here. Everyone is afraid of the CEO.
    Benefits could be better.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and quit hiring "yes men." Better training is also needed.
Provide bonuses and raises to those who deserve them.
Fix what is broken instead of sweeping it under the rug and hoping it fixes itself.
