I have been working at Meritage Homes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have been honored to be working at this great organization for over 5 years now. I am very well respected and my opinions always matter, we have gone through some mgt changes with in the last 12-18 Months, there were some growing pains which is to be expected of all large companies during a mgt change. Over all very privileged to be a part of this company. Great opportunities to grow, sales mgt is amazing. Very much willing to help and support in any way that they can. Meritage Homes Houston has a unlimited opportunity for career and personal growth.

    Cons

There are no Cons I can think of at this time.

    Advice to Management

Keep the lines of communication open between the Field and the Main Office. Communication is crucial to success and growth.

Management never checks to see if you're working great software system so they can you make your sales numbers great. No one checks on you daily

    Cons

Management has no clue what they're doing so there's no support for agents at all in the sales manager does not even have a real estate license so does not know the law

    Advice to Management

Got to get rid of management and hire people that have been in a management role and know what they're doing

I worked at Meritage Homes full-time

    Pros

Good pay if you get the right community

    Cons

Local managers are clowns. Collecting a paycheck and that's about all. Corporate is too involved.

    Advice to Management

There is a reason all your salespeople are leaving. Maybe an exit interview would help you figure out why? Houses are way overpriced for what the customer gets. Meritage is the laughingstock of all the other builders. They think they are the only energy builder. Hello? Time to wake up and see that every new home builder is doing most of what you are doing. Get off your high horse? Sad to see such blindness. Sinking Ship!

    Cons

force fed policies from out of state upper management team, limited plans (regional), no changes to existing plans, stress to make closings/starts and sales each month and especially at the end of a quarter.

    Advice to Management

Allow more control at the division level

I have been working at Meritage Homes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The training process is very thorough for this industry.
    Great land acquisition department
Pricing ranges from entry level to luxury
    Heavy emphasis on energy efficiency

    Cons

We are currently going through a period where it's taking a long time to start the building process
We are required to use Salesforce (which is a great CRM software) but it is a struggle for those who aren't very computer literate.

    Advice to Management

There is a bottleneck in the starts department. We need more people in the design center.

I have been working at Meritage Homes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Honestly, they build the best home out there. The engineering in the home is amazingly energy efficient.

    Cons

I've never been so lied-to and lead-on in my entire life. I was hired on as a sales trainee and I exceeded all goals that were set out for me. When they hired me, they said I was in a 90 day training period and said it was going to be no time before they placed me in a community. Everytime I met with my executives, it was like a big cheerleading convention for you. I've been used as cheap labor and I have still yet to be paid like any other sales associate while making just as many sales.

    Advice to Management

Come up with a better way to comunicate between departments. It's like hell to get anything done for the good of the customer. DONT LIE TO YOUR EMPLOYEES.

    Pros

Decent $$$ on the sales floor "IF" they don't give you a partner.

    Cons

MAJOR micro-managers! No respect for personal time. Horrible workplace morale. VP's even discuss how difficult it is to work here.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees, and do something to show they're appreciated. Cut out the micro-managing, and quit allowing Scottsdale to call the shots in each region.., it's obvious they're making the wrong decisions.
