    I worked at Meritor full-time

    Pros

The benefits were good and compensation was above average. While the facility was open it was a decent job that did not have mandatory overtime.

    Cons

The facility closed so that was a major con. It wasn't the greatest place to work. Very dirty and the building was old. The organization rarely put money into fixing facility needs.

    Advice to Management

They managed by being bullies. A lot of yelling, screaming, and leading by dictatorship. The moral on the floor could have been much higher had this type of management not been the way of life there.

    I worked at Meritor full-time

    Pros

Good people working on the manufacturing floor.
Wide variety of products between OE and Aftermarket fields.

    Cons

    Frequent layoffs.
Revolving door management team, bringing their own people in to replace current employees.
Trying to force a poor culture into a good one.
Long term strategy isn't well defined.
Want top quality without putting processes in place to support it.

    Advice to Management

Put more credence in manufacturing and quality professionals when making decisions rather than the Accounting and Purchasing functions.
Hire the right people, and let them implement their long term strategies.

    Pros

Good leadership. Strong IT department. They provide good career growth for someone looking to get well rounded experience and not just a silo. Many people have worked for Meritor for 10 years or more. This is a positive reflection on the company.

    Cons

When you have hit the ceiling in your position or department, there aren't many other options.

I have been working at Meritor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong incentive to make the leadership program what you want. Relatively few limits on where you can be placed.

    Cons

Very "old school" industrial company that suffers from slow product development and minimal drive from management to innovate.

    Advice to Management

Employee retention should be your number one goal. Competitive offers from other companies are driving employees (young and old) away from Meritor due to their lack of competitive compensation.
