    I have been working at Merlin Entertainments full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great co-workers 40 Merlin tickets to any attraction around the world after working for a year You get to learn a lot and depending on your manager, you can try other roles in the attraction When management isn’t busy with other things, they do host great Christmas and summer parties. Though, expect your Xmas party in April or May and summer party in September or October. Management does provide free food during peak weeks, like spring break and the holidays.

    Cons

    Pay is very low, part time employees only make a dollar more than full time ones and full timers have a lot more pressure put on them. Management favors certain employees over others No connection between educators and displays, this is done on purpose Very high turnover and management doesn’t seem to care Rarely is the attraction fully staffed meaning more work and stress for everyone else Hardly any incentives given to employees Mangers spend more time telling you what you did wrong rather than what you did right.

    I have been working at Merlin Entertainments part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    the aquarium itself is nice, and if you enjoy marine animals you'll get to see them, but it's still a customer service job.

    Cons

    pay starts at $9.25 with no opportunity for upward mobility. the aquarium is located in the mall of america, where most other employers will pay $10 and up for a very similar job. no one is full time except managers because they don't want to give us health insurance. there is an extremely high turnover rate of employees, due to the poor work conditions, low pay, and crappy management. most people hired will quit or stop showing up within two weeks because they find something better or just don't care, leading to an understaffed and overworked supervisor team and unhappy guests. employee training is shoddy, with newbies training other newbies. communication between departments is abysmal. this company also has a habit of promoting newer people who don't know what they are doing and can become whatever the upper management wants, instead of employees who have been around longer and are more qualified to be managers. I've seen many dear friends and co-workers lose the love they once had for this place and end up quitting because nothing ever changes.
