I have been working at Merrill Gardens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

These are beautiful facilities with lovely residents. From a visual standpoint, the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting,

    Cons

Though the mission statement eludes to a balanced work to life balance, this is erroneous at best. Staffers are overworked and certain departments are given universal workers to execute very important duties to perform that they are not qualified for. This makes everyone's job harder. Trying to communicate you needs with an individual that doesn't understand the nature of the field or the common directives accompanying them, makes the job incredibly time-consuming and frustrating,

    Advice to Management

Please consider hiring the staff needed to man your department from the get go with folks proficient in that particular field. The money spent will build a great team from the ground up and reduce the stress of your seasoned professionals greatly. I have already witnessed "hand picked" employees walk off the job due to extremely unfavorable conditions. No dedicated personnel need be subjected to your idea of a quick fix or even temporary help. When employees are overworked and stressed beyond their limitations, you will ultimately end up with a far worse problem than you could ever have imagined. When you are told that a department needs professional workers, listen and comply. You will lose some of the best in the business if you deny or disregard these requests.

    Pros

Competitive pay and Benefits, Good work schedule, lovely atmosphere, Fellow employees are friendly and easy to work with. Approve of CEO.

    Cons

Break down of communication with GM and Management. Getting different directions from home office and your GM, makes it difficult to figure out who's directions you should follow.

    Pros

I loved my job! I loved our residents and other hard working staff members. I love administration.

    Cons

Management's hand's are tied by the self serving owners. The owners don't care a flip about their residents or employees. It's true.

    Advice to Management

    Fire the owner.

    Pros

Free meals, and that was about it...

    Cons

Do yourself a favor and never work at Merrill gardens. Management is a bunch of narcissists, they pick favorites, never listen to employee or resident complaints.

    Advice to Management

Hire more professional and less passive aggressive people.

I worked at Merrill Gardens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people! Relaxed culture allows you to be creative in your work process. They give you the tools to do your job, but don't have nit-picky policies you are forced to follow.

    Cons

The company has been in a major state of flux for the last 3 or 4 years. It makes consistency a challenge, and sometimes requires upper management to be spread a bit thin.

    Advice to Management

Hire the right people, and trust them! The company spends a lot of money ensuring that they hired the best possible employees, and has many Assets in their management teams. That being said, I don't feel like everyone's talents are properly utilized.
