The experience is uncanny. You learn a great deal of real world skills you can carry over to another job.

I have been working at Merrill Lynch as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

You'll learn a lot about the investment world and how things work. Become more aware of the financial markets and the various effects changes in the market have on investment strategies. I've put a lot of the things I learned in portfolio management in to practice. The FA I work for gives me a lot of little projects and takes the time to give feedback where needed and really cares that I get as much exposure to the various roles in the industry as possible.

    Cons

I haven't had any downsides just yet. Thoroughly enjoy working there and each day I have learned a little more. I would imagine that the quality of your time spent there depends on your advisor and the effort they put into helping you out.
