    Pros

Great colleagues, schedule is great for work-life balance

    Cons

Terrible management, big on wage theft, abusive culture. My understanding is not all brokerage firms are like this one.

    Pros

Ok benefits but not the best

    Cons

management has a very quick turn around, nobody from the management seems to keep their positions for longer than a year or two

    Advice to Management

Improve team environment . There is no integrity in this office. It seams like everyone in that office is against each other. Unless it is paid by the wholesaler management does't show any sort of appreciation to it's employees, not even a formal Christmas party like most reputable companies do.

I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to train and test for licensure. Great benefits.

    Cons

Huge corporation with purely profit motives. They "try" to create teams and mentoring relationships, but you'd better be prepared to fly solo, fight for your own, and really love selling. It's an external sales job first, finance second, and relationship management when you've developed a big enough "book" to stay employed. Huge, gigantic failure rate ... that's where the thundering herd really is.

    Advice to Management

Build community, build teams that really work, allow for a more "personal" touch by FAs. Form letters may be compliance easy, but are NOT relationship building friendly.

    Pros

The greatest thing about ML is the diversity in your career options. Sacrificed time and hard work result in many opportunities for upward mobility.

    Cons

Many people are not cut out for this industry. You need to have a supportive team and strong manager to be successful. Don't expect to be trained. You are expected to work through lunches and to work overtime. I wouldn't categorize this work-life balance position.

    Advice to Management

    Be supportive of staffs needs.
    Implement better training programs.
Don't cut corners when it comes to HR related issues.
