    Pros

Best reasons at the time was it was near a mall and the city transit could get there easily. There also was a taco bell in that mall, so working near a taco bell was great.

    Cons

Cons was the work balance between school and work since school was more important than folding clothes.

    Advice to Management

There is no longer any management since the company is no longer around.

I have been working at Mervyns (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Group work environments, Workload balances, and benefits. They also invested in the most up-to-date systems possible.

    Cons

Business was bad at the end of it all, but Suncorp did Mervyn's in. Other cons would be basic office politics. If you were talented in a position that was important to overall success, they would keep you there rather than advance you at the rate of other peers for fear of disrupting the business.

I worked at Mervyns full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Got my management start with Mervyns's! Loved working in the San Pablo store, family oriented, then it closed and relocated to a different area,

    Cons

After its relocation to a different area, it was more about making the money and competing with the stores around them.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your employees, you can learn a lot about what motivates them and where their strengths lies to be able to place people where they are best fit and would love working.

I worked at Mervyns full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay was alright, certainly not enough if you worked overtime(pretty much required if you wanted to get your job done). Great people to work with.

    Cons

Never enough payroll hours to complete any job. Mostly you were expected to get the job done, but never supported in order to do it. If you offered suggestions for improvement, they were not listened to or appreciated.

I worked at Mervyns part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I made friends and got to grow professionally. It was a great starter job.

    Cons

The worse part of the job was working in the men's department. I always called it the dungeon because I rarely saw any forms of life in the area. I basically got to organize and clean throughout my shift.
