I have been working at Mesa Public Schools full-time

    Pros

some autonomy, but superintendants bend to the whim of parents.

    Cons

not a lot of support for staff, and not really focused on true needs of students.

I have been working at Mesa Public Schools full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits for employee only are great and job security is a given if you work hard.

    Cons

Caseload can be high with the need to put in hours outside the school day. Pay is exempt regardless of hours worked and case load demands.

    Advice to Management

Offer sliding scale stipends based on caseload to compensate those with much higher work loads. Offer stipends for hard to fill positions.

I have been working at Mesa Public Schools full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Plenty of resources
    Strong support system
    Fantastic Superintendent
Decent teacher pay by AZ standards

    Cons

None so far... I've had great admin to work under.

    Advice to Management

The best way to make a teacher feel appreciated by their administration is to give them room to be themselves in the classroom.

I worked at Mesa Public Schools part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Positive work environment
If you don't like monotony, you can always switch it up and be a relief driver and substitute
    Paid training
They pay for you to get your CDL
They train you in CPR and First Aid
    No nights or weekends
All major (and some minor) holidays off
If you drive the special Education buses they all have A/C
If you are respectful towards the management and do your job properly, they will be flexible
            and understanding towards you.

    Cons

Learning to drive a school bus with a bunch of crazy kids can be stressful
The training doesn't really teach you much other than how to drive the bus
The trainer Stan makes up outrageous stories in training that you should never believe
If your not a morning person, it can be hard to start your work day at 6:00 AM

I have been working at Mesa Public Schools full-time

    Pros

Respect for their teachers and students
Provide the best and timely professional development for teachers
Implemented an incredible 1:1 device process providing training for educators

    Cons

It's difficult for me to think of cons, other than I grew up in Mesa and attended all MPS schools - elementary, junior high and high school and I would say that the population in Mesa is getting more mature so there is not much growth projected which leads to different environments to adapt to and different clientele.

I have been working at Mesa Public Schools part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Weekends have them off
    Ability to somehow set schedule
Ability to move up and work extra hours

    Cons

Some leads and supervisors don't know how to lead and are extremely lazy
May be hard to get vacation days
Schedule at night will get tiresome after a while
No benefits as a Part Timer

    Advice to Management

Everyone at a school must work to get ahead, even the lead. The lead should not spend more than 30 minutes in their office doing "paperwork".
