I have been working at MetLife full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Friendly work life balance programs available but are based on department/manager discretion.

    Cons

Lots of jobs moving to NC so less opportunities for advancement. Senior Leadership (CEO) is more wall street motivated and cares little for employees. Going through another round of budget cuts due to his strategic direction.

    Cons

Massive re-org for the past 5 years but NO stock growth. See people quit for better companies constantly

I have been working at MetLife full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Location for commute is great

    Cons

Silo driven mentality that stifles free thought and transparency; everything is a slide deck. Too much time with decks and presentations. My AVP asked for bits and pieces of info, then repackages it all with a consultant type storyline and then sells it like it's his idea and work. No respect.

    Advice to Management

Even though strategy is saying all the right things, the culture won't let it happen unless change to how anyone below AVP is treated. When good people leave - you should reexamine why - and not just bad mouth them after they leave.

I worked at MetLife as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company, great experience, great management, reasonably good technology for its size.

    Cons

Sheer size makes innovation a bit hard to push. But very open to change. Reorganization and SIFI obviously created some hardships.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great effort vis-à-vis customers and employees.
