I have been working at MetLife full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a job until something else comes along.

    Cons

All upper level management seemed to get the job by who they know and not what they know.

    Advice to Management

    Don't go there.

I have been working at MetLife (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great employees at bottom half of population. Opportunity to meet amazing and talented people.

    Cons

They won't protect you. If a manager has it out for you, you don't have a chance. Can be here for decades and be given two weeks notice to pack your bags.

    Advice to Management

Do 360 reviews on middle management. They are the hidden layer and cause the most disruption. Terminations and job eliminations should not be influenced by personal opinion or perceived threat.

    Cons

Everything. Worst company I ever worked for in my entire life.
Worked their for 2 and half years and just left September 30th. Just found it today Metlife reversed a check from 10/15 without informing me and now my account is overdrawn over $1200...
Payroll said my manager reported my termination late on 10/17. My manager stated he reported it the same day or after and that payroll just confirmed with him yesterday my term date. payroll said that my last check should of been 9/30 and not 10/15 . My account is overdrawn over 1000 dollars because they reversed that check didn't contact me and when I called said they don't inform anyone they just reverse . I thought we were paid based on prior work weeks and didn't know we were paid current date. Currently waiting on a call from a manager! I'm so upset! This is how you treat former employees?!!! Would never recommend you to a friend!

I worked at MetLife full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay and benefits were good. Also enjoyed the casual work environment

    Cons

work load which makes work-life balance nearly impossible/ Training was not as promised. You work over-time to keep up with your case load however overtime is not encouraged by managers. The expectations of your daily work load is not realistic.
A very punitive corporate culture. Many of the managers bully employees.

    Advice to Management

Work loads need to be more realistic. Management needs to be more open to employee concerns.
    Have realistic expectations.

I have been working at MetLife full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Pay, Benefits and great location.

    Cons

No work life balance, hostile work environment, no concern for employees, facility is old, and management only cares about self's. Unstructured, unethical, and only cares about getting the job done. Do not care about how the job gets done or the quality of the work. Peers are quitting left and right. Work environment is like high school (micromanaged). There have been 2 reorgs with in one year.

    Advice to Management

Due away with the just get the job mentality and care about the quality of the work. Also, start caring about employees and attempt to boost moral. Due to high turn over rate the remaining employees are overloaded. Treat employees with some respect and stop only being concerned about numbers.

I have been working at MetLife (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    The view is nice.

    Cons

    1. CEO
    2. Oppurtunities within
    3. Awful leadership and direction
    4. Compensation is extremely low for Charlotte - one of the lowest in the industry

    Advice to Management

Invest in leaders opposed to followers. It's much easier to find people that agree opposed to outlining the situation and picking the best alternative. That will require people having a voice and not being looked down upon for using it. Too many politics and egos discoursge the people in the weeds of the business that truly understand the business to be heard seriously opposed to being dismissed.
