    Pros

Great culture. The staff are very fun to be around and having several locations is nice to meet different managers.

    Cons

Below average for yearly raises. They push employees hard until they break and don't compensate enough for the work that is done.

    I worked at MetaBank part-time

    Pros

Well-established, Midwest values, good benefits, good compensation, friendly culture

    Cons

Plateaued innovation, fragmented business structure, slow to adapt to changes in the market

    Advice to Management

Work on tapping into Iowa markets better, both in terms of customers and talent coming from nearby Iowa universities. Allow Iowa branches more leeway to take part in management conversations.

I worked at MetaBank full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Meta's Mission and Vision are not just words that are used during orientations....it's a philosophy that each and every employee from executive management down to the lowest paid employee lives and breathes every single day!

    Cons

There are no down sides to working for Meta!

I worked at MetaBank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There were a few people who were fun to work with, (the ones who ended up quitting) and the customers were super nice and friendly.

    Cons

Management sucks, pay is really crappy, benefits are crappy, you are treated poorly by your managers, when they don't even know how to do the job correctly themselves. They will nit pick at every little thing you do wrong and you might as well learn every policy and procedures like the back of your hand because your manager will just tell you to look there when you have a question that the "MANAGER" should help you out with. Managers at Urbandale branch do not know how to work as a team like they should be doing. Instead they would rather pair up and beat down their front line

    Advice to Management

Learn to work as a team instead of beating down your front line that customers see first, it makes it really not enjoyable to come to work everyday when you have managers like that. And maybe learn the job first before you tell your employees what they are doing wrong!!

I worked at MetaBank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice to your face but unable to trust the words they say because they are never true

    Cons

This company has no respect for people you are a number in a cubicle. They give you no opportunities to defend yourself just the word of someone who does't like you.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to perform and investigation you should get all sides before coming to a decision of someones livelihood. Scumbags

I have been working at MetaBank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-opportunity for growth- provided that you work hard
-a business that knows how to effectively spread their risk across many different avenues

    Cons

some departments can are stuck in a "this is how we've always done it" mindset

    Advice to Management

Be more open to the thoughts of your lower level employees. They won't tell you their opinion unless you invite them to and they don't fear retaliation. Their opinions are just as important as senior management and the board.

    Pros

Nice break rooms, decent benefits, could be better.

    Cons

Complete chaos and confusion. The HR department doesn't have a clue what they are doing. No rhyme or reason to their actions, policies or procedures. The management team is clueless and they don't stand behind their culture book. Don't ask any questions, even if they tell you it is okay. Don't have an opinion that differs from theirs or you'll be out the door.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to who you are moving into middle management... maybe give them some training or overist.e
