I have been working at Methodist Health System (More than 5 years)

    Pros

a great group of co-workers and doctors, everyone is friendly for the most part, once you get your foot in the door, it is easy to transfer departments

    Cons

Other than a disagreement here and there with my boss, I really can't say anything negative other than the benefits weren't the best

I have been working at Methodist Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large Health System so there is a lot of potential to transfer and grow. Good benefit package.

    Cons

Pay Increases are very small and not based on performance so that hard workers get the same increases as slackers.

    Advice to Management

Less meetings and more interaction with staff who are doing the work will give you a better sense of what needs to be done.

I have been working at Methodist Health System full-time

    Pros

The NICU team is FABULOUS & FRIENDLY! Everyone helps when you have an admission and is very approachable whenever you have a question. The assignments are totally appropriate and manageable. There are a lot lot of opportunities to work overtime (which means serious big bucks and bonuses like I've never seen before!) because we are such a popular hospital. The environment is clean and new. The aides are helpful. The doctors and nurse practioners are respectful and nice to work with. If I had a baby I would want them to be in this NICU because there are so many highly qualified, highly intelligent, and experienced nurses who work here. I worked at Children's before this (most of the NICU nurses there worked there before they wised up and came to Women's) and I nearly left nursing because Children's NICU was such a hostile place, a total dog-eat-dog world, lots of condescending nurse-bullies, mega-stress assignments, and very poorly managed place). If you want to work in a NICU I strongly suggest you look at Methodist; you will not regret your decision!

    Cons

The new unit is not slated to include a lactation room. At this point in my life I think I'm done having kids but I do feel sorry for the younger nurses who could use the lactation room. Plus, it seems a little backwards to be a Women's Hospital and not offer that. They also require you to use your PTO if you want to get paid during maternity leave. We do not have a ton of education opportunities thrown in our face but they are there if you just look online. No raises for unit committee members or if you obtain any special NICU certifications (ie RNC).

    Pros

Very flexible schedules,Friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

    Cons

Work load is immense, Staffing is not adequate to handle the load. Most of the time staffing is less and you have to manage same as the grid.

    Advice to Management

Recruit more employees so that you would not loose your hard working people.

I have been working at Methodist Health System full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice group of employees to work with

    Cons

Don't want you to think for yourself... just follow orders. Very lacking in technology advances. Poor pay levels.

    Advice to Management

Not "the meaning of care" towards employees at all. You can change this.

I worked at Methodist Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Professional intelligent compassionate people. I would only send my family here..

    Cons

Low pay and new employees make nearly as much as experience..

    Advice to Management

Caution yourself on showing favorites and pay attention to the staff and their needs. You will love excellent employees like myself if you're not careful. Do not allow them to become burnt out by working overtime.
