I have been working at Methodist Hospital (More than a year)

    Pros

There's opportunity to move to other departments and learn new skills.

    Cons

A lot of lazy RNs. If your nurse tech is busy assisting patient A, it's rude to ask them to get patient B a cup if ice particularly if you have to pass the ice machine to deliver the message. A little common sense and basic nursing care goes a long way.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps it would be in the best interest of management to remind their RNs the basics of nursing care and TEAM work. Yes RNs chart heavily and all day long, but a simple act of kindness thru action goes a long way regarding your hospitals "patient satisfaction" scores.

I have been working at Methodist Hospital (More than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers, benefits are good, PTO is reasonable. Flexible scheduling. Good place to get a wide variety of nursing skills.

    Cons

management doesn't listen to employees, but I tend to see this as a problem with many companies. I do believe they are working on change

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. They are ultimately the ones doing the patient care and can guide you into making the hospital a better workplace.

I have been working at Methodist Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

they do bonus hours. so if u do overtime. u get 8 dollars plus your base pay per hour. so my check was lovely..

    Cons

Methodist do not care what you are going through. They have a strict NO EXCUSE policy. My uncle died and I got wrote up for not coming in. I actually missed his wake. If I couldn't find nobody to replace me the day of his funeral. then I was going to get wrote up again. Methodist has a 6 months probation if you miss 3 days reguardless if u got a doctor excuse or not. U FIRED!!! I almost didn't make it. My daughter was in a car wreck and I left work, guess what I got wrote up again!!! I even had her hospital papers they didn't care. OH YES... most important if u resign, like I did U FORFIT your PTO.. IF u get terminated YOU FORFIT your PTO as well. Methodist is strict and don't CARE.. IF u go to work all the time without no call in then u will not have no problems

    Advice to Management

BE more caring about your employee... They want us to have empathy toward our patient but don't have no empathy toward they staff. I miss my uncle wake because of this Job!!! I will never forgive myself for that
