I have been working at Methodist Hospital of Southern California full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team members; like a family. Everyone is nice and really cares about patient care.

    Cons

Senior leadership is disconnected with staff; have no clue of why staff turnover is high and unhappy. Too much inequalities.

    Advice to Management

Walk the floors and ask the staff member how management can make it better for staff.

  6. "Poor leadership. Directors don't support senior leadership and senior leadership does not seem to care about the staff."

I worked at Methodist Hospital of Southern California full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family like environment. Staff really care about the patients. Staff goes above and beyond the hospitals expectations to provide high quality care on all levels of services. This hospital would be our choice for high level health care.

    Cons

Lack of professional and ethical behavior by HR department. No one knows what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff concerns and follow up.

I worked at Methodist Hospital of Southern California full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Beautiful facility
Cafeteria food is delicious and always fresh.
Facility is always clean and kept up.
    Some friendly employees

    Cons

    High employee turn over rate
    Over worked and under paid.
Staff doesn't seem to care much about patients and their concerns.
Favoritism towards the non hardworking while the hard workers get over looked.
Management is cold hearted and not understanding.
    Pay rate is low.
Would cut shifts with out notifying employee.
Management is terrible at being a good example to employees

    Advice to Management

Be more caring and understanding towards your employees and maybe the turn over rate wouldn't be so high.
    Be fair to all employees.
    Increase pay rate.

I worked at Methodist Hospital of Southern California full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can't really think of any pros at the moment.

    Cons

RN's can get abusive to CNA's in front of patients. Treated as if mentally retarded by doctors. No respect in this building for "lower" staff. Terrible management.

    Advice to Management

Get a manager. When 21 year old snot nosed RN's are threatening to fire new CNA's that haven't been fully trained properly in policy and procedure (during training) it doesn't make for a healthy work atmosphere. Especially while sitting around a team of doctors. Hands down, the most degrading company I've ever worked for. My integrity was insulted daily. I'm a bright girl, no need to blatantly disrespect me. Also - make sure no tattoos are visible. If they are, HR will speak terribly of you to your co workers and your co workers will advise you to hide from HR when they come to your floor.

    Pros

Very busy, face paced environment. Always something that needs to be addressed or worked on.

    Cons

Lack of work/life balance. Unmanageable workloads. PTO accrual where Sick and Vacation hours are in the same bank (You only accrue 2 weeks max). High turnover rates, especially in the IT department. Too many employees go on Leave possibly due to the high stress levels.

    Advice to Management

Address the issues in your workforce. They are more than willing to go above and beyond, however, there needs to be a balance in work/life or compensate accordingly. Manage nepotism in the organization (i.e., why is the President's unqualified son still working there?)

I have been working at Methodist Hospital of Southern California full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

For the most part the people you work with from other department are friendly.

    Cons

Benefits are terrible as this place has been struggling for years now. A lot of people got jobs here not because of their skillset, but from family or friends. So many are not qualified. And less proactive to learn and make this place a better experience to the patients. But they don't.

A lot of favoritism, and pointing complaining of people who works. Not a healthy environment if you're a hard worker. If you like to do less work and spend time charting, then this place might be a right fit for you.
