Aug 12, 2022 - Registered Nurse, CVICU in San Antonio, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Unit has a good range of low to high acuity CVICU patients, but your low acuity CVICU patients will be tripled and coding in the same shift. There was an intensivist in hospital on nights, but frequently unreachable to keep your pt from coding, because they are busy with another code.
Cons
Hostile/DANGEROUS work environment, while management, CNO's brush it under the rug. Extremely cliquey. One experienced nurse chased off all excellent RN's with her level of experience to assert her control over staff. Terrible pay, not worth the years of therapy you will need after working in such a hostile; physically, mentally, and emotionally threatening work environment.
