I have been working at MetroWest Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not many. Any that we had are disappearing with company buyout by amedisys. New tablets is about the only good thing.

    Cons

Required to work 40 hours for benefits. No part time benefits offered. Terrible benefits as is High deductible- then only covers 80% once met. Only 6 holidays. No company phone, required to use your own for patient calls. Poor mileage reimbursement. Large service area, low employee count. Overtime is essentially forced. On-call requirement 1-2x a month where you end up with leftover patients. Poor coverage on weekends. Employee needs not a priority in this organization. Money first, patients second, employees last.
Management tries their best but they too are not well treated and therefore entire company suffers. Would not recommend. Max exodus to come with amedisys buyout.

I worked at MetroWest Medical Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - free employee parking
    - many older nurses have been on the floors for 20+ years

    Cons

    - quick turnover of new RNs, many older RNs set in their ways and unlikely to want to change or update their practice to the current standards
    - older hospital with older equipment

    Advice to Management

    - increase presence on the hospital floors

    Pros

friendly staff, i covered two er's 7 miles apart from 7p - 7a for 8 years very busy driving back and forth.

    Cons

Many nights both hospitals were paging me at the same time, and they had to wait until I got there. It was very hard at times to please everybody at the same time

    Advice to Management

Make the ER attendings figure out what gets done first and make the nurses stick to it. Don't bring a GB down for a scan and leave an OB VAG bleed just because the GB is an old lady who's complaining. GB always come after any OB no matter what.

I have been working at MetroWest Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Longevity of staff at all levels is impressive. All staff is dedicated and committed to advocate and provide safe, kind, compassionate care, following guidelines/protocols at all times.

    Cons

Upper management changes frequently. Old behaviors remain, change is met with much resistance and overall mentality that the physician is King needs to be removed from the environment. Focus is on pleasing and retaining private physicians at all costs. Nursing staff can be run to the bare minimum which is unprofessional and poses unsafe patient care.

    Advice to Management

Stop talking and make change. Stop placing the MD's first above all else. No matter what, hold them as accountable as other staff. Update respect, work environment, staffing ratios for all workers from the bottom up. Each person is equally important, it's not just about the degree. Hold
