I have been working at Metrocare Services full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule, team leads are extremely supportive. Ability to have a great work/life balance if you allow it.

    Cons

Again, if you have the ability to maintain or not maintain a work/life balance. Insurance isn't the best, however, I had exceptional insurance before. Metrocare compensates in other ways such as discounts on prescriptions through their pharmacy!

    Advice to Management

    Improve educational advancement opportunities.

I worked at Metrocare Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working to get hours for licenses and building your resume is easy with this company.
You will help those that don't have access to the best care so you feel you are really helping.
You can move around in the company pretty easily if you make connections with managers in other departments.

    Cons

If you do not like working to meet numbers this is not the position for you (QMHP).
It's easy to just do what's needed and not go above and beyond because it's about numbers.
Disconnect between those in the admin office and those on the front line

    Advice to Management

If you are looking to meet numbers, that's fine because you have to run the business and make money to pay people. However, do not be surprised that people leave because they want to be free to expand on their skills.

I have been working at Metrocare Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Other good/caring professionals/staff attempting to make positive difference, the potential to make a difference in the lives of others, some flexibility in setting your daily schedule, lots of training in the beginning, stipend for additional education/language proficiency/mileage, the professional experience is beneficial. If you make it here you will make it anywhere, even if you've only been here for a couple of months.

    Cons

High stress(i.e. meeting productions standards w/ current client population is difficult), low pay for the amount of work (but they pay more than others if you're not fully licensed), you're always working in an attempt to meet production standards. Population is difficult to work with, requiring lots of energy to educate/redirect; safety can be a concern (i.e. physical/health-wise/emotionally). Job is emotionally draining w/ high need population. High turnover rate for QMHP--possibly 50% or more. Even when doing your best if you do not meet your productivity you will get written up. Medical insurance benefits are awful--- you are paying a lot out of pocket/high deductible. This job should never be considered a long term prospect; its for training only.

    Advice to Management

Written process for clinic processes, tips/suggestions to improve bench, & longer time periods to be able to meet production requirements.

I have been working at Metrocare Services full-time

    Pros

Having the privilege of serving the underserved population. If social services are your passion and your goal is to serve others, there are many opportunities to impact the lives of people in positive wAys. God is moving when we come to serve rather than to be served.

    Cons

The clinics can be depressing as they look old and worn and dirty. Buying carpet cleaners and dusters and letting clients work in these positions. Cleanliness is not unattainable and could be achieved with a little guidance for the clients who do this work. Carpets should all be cleaned once a month. In house as MCS doesn't have the resources to hire this service out. Bathrooms also need to sparkle! Paint and plants and music as well.

    Advice to Management

    See above
Also manage by walking around. Talk to people. Ask them how you are doing and how you can do your job better and how you can help them do their jobs better. Relationships are more important than rules. Lombardi says once you have won a persons heart, he or She will follow you anywhere.

    Pros

The work that Metrocare does is great for the community by reaching out to those with limited resources. Great potential for an organization such as this.

    Cons

Management/Administration demands are unrealistic/unfounded most of the time, hence the high turnover rate.
Lack of staff places higher pressure/demands on others to compensate.

    Advice to Management

Learn and fully understand goals set for staff and what is required to meet them. Understand that demands placed can be unrealistic and most often unattainable, though can be attainable for staff if work/life balance is unimportant.

I have been working at Metrocare Services full-time

    Pros

Serving people with intellectual disabilities is a very rewarding opportunity. Metrocare Services affords us the chance to positively impact the lives of families trying to love and care for their love ones.

    Cons

Leadership...leadership...leadership! When you have leaders with antiquated views and leadership styles needs to be replaced. Unfortunately talented people are overlooked and eventually leave without being tapped into. Its sad, but I am sure I will be transitioning soon due to the poor organizational leadership.

    Advice to Management

Restructure...restructure...restructure. Value your people and treat them with dignity and respect and they will work hard for the people served and the company.
