Pros
-work from home -managers will help you out as much as they can
Cons
Everything. I had high hopes when I joined Metromile but not anymore. Work /life balance doesn’t exist. If you want to be current with your work expect to work at minimum 50 hours per week. That’s an extra two hours per day just responding to voicemails, returning emails, reviewing new claims, etc. Metromile is constantly short staffed on the claims side. They’re hiring model is broken. It takes 6 weeks to onboard a new hire and go through training and then once training is over, it takes months before the new reps are at full claim volume. The result is that the reps that are currently taking claims are getting more than they can handle and it’s burning us out. Management doesn’t care. The mentality is that claims reps should take as much as what’s thrown at them. If you break and quit, they’ll just find someone else. You can work your butt off and be completely current on your activities but the moment you fall behind you’ll be hearing about it. Unlimited PTO is a joke. The reality is that there’s no such thing as unlimited PTO because you have a job and they won’t let you take off as much time as you want. When you do need to use PTO it’s not uncommon that your request will be turned down because there’s not enough people working on the days you want to take off. The phone queue is unrelenting. They will constantly yell at you in slack channels to get back on the phones. It’s frustrating because some reps will put themselves in “away” for 2 hours at a time and none of the managers ever notice or do anything about it. Meanwhile you’re being forced to take calls on those reps claims. Working here has become exhausting. I’m at my braking point and no one notices how hard you’re working. How much time you have to put in just to be current. They notice only when you fall behind. They hardly ever show appreciation for their reps.
