I worked at Metropolitan Bank and Trust full-time

    Pros

    Good benefits (Officer level)
    -clothing allowance
    -rice allowance
    -medical allowance
    -upto 15th month pay
    -holiday bonus
    -competitive salary

Not very sure if same applies with rank and file employees.

    Cons

Some people here feel superior to newbies. Some ignore questions or answers rudely/sarcastically.

Air-conditioning units are turned off very early- before 6PM (it gets hot, you know)

    Extra 30 mins for officer levels (8:30AM - 6:00PM)

    Advice to Management

Please address your employees' needs. They should also feel "in good hands"

I worked at Metropolitan Bank and Trust full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I liked the training from BSP. This is good for people who would like to gain experience but not really for long-term.

    Cons

The branch I'm with will ask us to stay without getting paid for overtime. The appraisal program was poor. It doesn't show the fair rating of the employee.

    Advice to Management

Train managers on how to speak professionally with their people.

  7. "Good learning experience at one of the largest banks in the Philippines, but comes with a lot of stress and poor IT"

I have been working at Metropolitan Bank and Trust full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Training is adequate with plenty of classes. Senior management listens to your inputs if they find the time. Generally senior management comes across as a smart bunch of people. People tend to work hard but are still very willing to help.

    Cons

Middle management is so-so for one of the largest banks in the Philippines. Compensation is low-to-average since their largest cost is manpower cost. Also, promotions are slow. Poor performance in any given year is punished by reducing the chance of promotion in the succeeding two to three years (usually though promotion is completely forgotten). IT systems are antiquated and development projects can be delayed by up to a few months to a few years. Since IT infrastructure is weak, most processes are performed manually.

    Advice to Management

I wish they had a fairer compensation scheme and better IT in place so that working there is rewarding..

    Pros

warm culture, stepping stone for a career in banking/finance.

    Cons

-A very poor career growth, not for a long term occupation.
-employer has lack of focus on extensive training. Why is it needs to be 10-20yrs as r&f to go to the management level? wherein they are capable of.

    Advice to Management

Be an overall good leader. and generous enough to give the employees what they deserve.
