Working at MTA headquarters was pretty great; learned about lots of new and interesting technologies and as a software developer, they gave me a lot of room to grow. It depends on the manager, but I was given a lot of freedom to design my own projects. They really treated me as a full member of the team, rather than "just an intern."

The pay was alright for an intern, but after I graduate, the full-time salary is not competitive at all. 40k for an Analyst Trainee, which is essentially a Data Science/ Data Engineer role...

MTA processes take a WHILE. Also, you'd expect that they would be eager to hire a great performing, 2-year+ intern after graduation, but there isn't much loyalty in this place
