    Pros

Great health benefits and pension plan

    Cons

Supervisors and managers expect you to work overtime at any time and when you do you are expected to stay 8 hours if the job only takes 3 hours. Unlike others, I do not defraud the taxpayer. The people you work with will not work with you if you are hardworking and professional the problem within this organization. The people managing you have no concept of what is proper maintenance. An incredible amount of nepotism which is rather unfortunate. Hiring examinations are flawed from a technical standpoint.

    Train Service Supervisor

Dec 2, 2017 - Train Service Supervisor in New York, NY

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Job security. Plenty of opportunities for advancement and I believe it to be one of the most diverse workforces in the world. I spent almost 37 years there and was able to retire with a great pension and lifetime medical benefits. I had a great career; the job is what you make of it and I have no regrets.

    Cons

The job is 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. You will spend a lot of time away from family and friends; the family needs to be understanding. Once you get into supervision / management, you see a lot of what drives the MTA is politically driven and media / publicity sensitive.

    Not the best

Jun 7, 2019 - Applications Developer in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    Great benefits and work/home life

    Cons

Great benefits and work/home life, but not the best if you are young and are looking to grow and challenge yourself. The strict public laws and rules in place for government workers make it hard to find a reason to stay with such low pay compared to the rest of the market especially now that pensions are gone...

    Cons

There’s lack of growth. They do things backwards here. No pay raises.

    Pros

They just started giving 3 days of work from home opportunity.

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy. It took me 1 full month to get a computer connected to the network and ready to work. The whole please is like a ghost town people hardly talk to each other. Management structure out of wack because most heigh end IT personal will not like to work there. It will be a great place to retire because it is kind of slow over there and the retirement benefits are good. Iron g
