Pros
lots of opportunities to move up different and the benefits are nice
Cons
management sucks they a rude and very disorganized and don't really help out employees when need
- Former Employee, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
Union is the only saving grace. Benefits are good. Pay is good for someone without college better than a lot of jobs that require college.
Cons
No work life balance. Changing schedule every three months. Safety isn’t guaranteed. Management and organization constantly trying to fire you so they don’t have to pay your pension. If you get sick or family member sick or you have an incident in your life they have zero compassion and will try to take your job away .

Pros
There are no pros of working at MTA Audit specifically, apply to other departments as they are much less toxic and knowledgeable.
Cons
You will receive the lowest pay imaginable to deal with the most feral and unhinged management.

Pros
Learn a lot from coworkers, huge company
Cons
Management doesn’t care about your progression and doesn’t see people as valuable assets to keep.
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Great job for pay and benefits. Made life long friends.
Cons
There is room to move up but don't count on your merits, it is definitely a place for the 'Boy's Club!' Some manager's target employees who are vocal with issue's of work with no real recourse for remedies. Discipline hearings are a joke, no such thing as fair and equitable, regardless of the evidence if 'they want you' here is the place they will 'get you!' Many manager's will 'blatantly lie' because 'the word came down to get him!' Be very careful of the Business Service Center with benefit questions and deductions other then company benefits you deduct from your paycheck. The 'BSC' is incompetent and upper management knows it and still have not rectified. The work is inherently dangerous and they claim safety is #1 don't believe it! Hang your coat tails on one of the Senior Men! They know the game!

Lots of Good, Never totally Great

- The lower and middle management are absolutely fantastic and always ready to take a new person under their wing. - New hires are immediately immersed in the work of their department. - Benefit packages and compensation are always good and reliable.
Cons
- Lots of upper management are not suited to lead groups. - Sometimes office politics get in the way of accomplishing anything.

Great place to start or finish your career...but those middle years can be a bit of a problem.

Excellent benefits (medical, vision, dental, flexible spending, sick/vacation time, FREE METROCARDS!) Salary increments between levels are significant (>10%) Friendly competitive environment (not cutthroat, just enough to motivate you) Knowledgeable, helpful management Short hours Tuition reimbursement High level of job satisfaction
Cons
Current hiring freeze makes it difficult to advance Upper management makes decisions that most often are not based on reality Serious gap in pay between upper management ($100K+) and analysts ($50k) Classic case of 'It's not what you know, but who you know' to further your career

Zero work life balance for some, 100% balance for others

Decent benefits, helpful & knowledgeable co-workers.
Cons
-Compensation is not competitive -Management has a fluid telework arrangement that is not shared with their subordinates -Poor new & old management that portrays itself as progressive and trendy but they are not familiar with the work, trying to learn it or understanding the processes -Management definitely puts up a wall between themselves & staff letting subordinates feel like they’re not valued or respected -Poor Union representation w/high dues -Archaic rules regarding work attire, etc.

Pros
Great sense of teamwork. Professionalism and true subject matter experts at all levels and all environments, whether in board room meetings or in maintenance shops.
Cons
Unfortunately effective leadership that drives the pros stops at middle management. Upper management is not always aware of the issues that impact morale at lower echelons.

Good benefits, decent hours, kind of lethargic
Feb 22, 2015 - Analyst in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The MTA is a good place to work if you don't mind sacrificing compensation in exchange for a good work/life balance. I always had my evenings and weekends (which I appreciated), and the benefits were very good, especially for a first-time employee.
Cons
The MTA's management seems prone to pointless politicking and suffers from a lack of direction at time. More than once I wondered how its senior executives were able to keep their jobs, because it seemed like their secretaries were doing far, far more meaningful work.
