I have been working at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

MUD provides great benefits and decent salary. The Union is excellent with supporting staff.

    Cons

The Management in Customer Service is terrible. They actually fabricate stories to cover for their unethical behavior. For a company like this to keep these type of people in charge is a disgrace. Creates a low morale environment. The employees are not respected and treated like children.

    Advice to Management

Stop moving Management to try to make things bettet. It's not working! It's getting worse!

I have been working at Metropolitan Utilities District (Less than a year)

    Pros

At Metropolitan Utilities District, People are very friendly, Management is also is very considerable. Almost every employee is always willing to share the information. It is a knowledge institution. I started working here as an Intern and My director was like a mentor to me and always helped me to succeed.

    Cons

Cons are very conditional and depend upon person to person. I didn't find anything for a major overhaul.

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay well thanks to Union. Good benefits thanks to union. Awesome peer coworkers. You'll enjoy your job, just not management. Luckily you have Union to watch your back. You'll need it.

    Cons

Low morale. Terrible and clueless management. Trainer Sophia has little to no experience in the position she is training, so it makes for poorly trained staff coming in.

    Advice to Management

No point in giving advice to management that genuinely does not care what you have to say

I have been working at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, retirement/pension. Moved up quickly because I worked hard and did my job. Really enjoy what I do and will be here until I retire.

    Cons

Technology challenged but getting better. Many who work here are long term employees and do the bare minimum because they can. The Union protects them and they know it and take full advantage of it. Lot's of seniority and tenure chest puffing here, my advice would be to just get in, do your job and keep your head down and you will be recognized as it is not very hard to outwork the old timers who are coasting by waiting to retire. Also, don't miss but a day or two your first year or they will let you go before you 1 year probation is up.

    Advice to Management

    Keep working on improving technology

I worked at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable work environment, good pay, very minimal workload.

    Cons

Good ol' boy network runs the company. The IT management would say they want a product to work a certain way - which said product would not even do. When IT staff mentioned this - it was "well, make it work"

    Advice to Management

Get in touch with the REAL world. This isn't 1985 and technology has come a long way.

I worked at Metropolitan Utilities District (Less than a year)

    Pros

To have a job and not be unemployed.

    Cons

Creating new ideas or getting anyone to listen and give thoughtful feedback.

    Advice to Management

Stop wasting money, think about those you serve more.

I have been working at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Metropolitian Utilities District is a fun and friendly environment with really great people. The company offers great benefits such as excellent insurance, a great 457 retirement plan, an excellent pension plan, and the pay is very good.

    Cons

The Metropolitian Utilities District does have issues due to senior management decisions and the direction they are taking the company. There are issues with how people earn raises with respect to fairness. The union creates issues for the company such as protecting workers that do not work very hard.
