I have been working at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great Benefits and Salary

    Cons

Customer Service is Horrible Place. The Clerks are not appreciated by middle or upper level management at all. The clerks get verbally abused by customers on a daily basis. There are a ton of errors because no one is on the same page. Communication is terrible. Customer Service is the most dumped on department by the entire company. The Clerks get no respect from Management, other departments or the customers. Bottomline this place is very demoralizing.

    Advice to Management

Start appreciating the good employees you have. Treat the clerks as individuals and recognize their worth.

I worked at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. *Some* good people to work with and some decent people in different departments. Not sure there is any more to say here.

    Cons

Bad management in IT, HR, and Customer Service. Dilbert principle in full effect. No way to go up unless you are a favorite. If you are a favorite, your knowledge doesn't matter to move (fail) up. IT management are only looking out for what makes them look good and their potential upward movement.

    Advice to Management

Empower everyone, not just your favorites.

    Pros

At Metropolitan Utilities District, People are very friendly, Management is also is very considerable. Almost every employee is always willing to share the information. It is a knowledge institution. I started working here as an Intern and My director was like a mentor to me and always helped me to succeed.

    Cons

Cons are very conditional and depend upon person to person. I didn't find anything for a major overhaul.

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay well thanks to Union. Good benefits thanks to union. Awesome peer coworkers. You'll enjoy your job, just not management. Luckily you have Union to watch your back. You'll need it.

    Cons

Low morale. Terrible and clueless management. Trainer Sophia has little to no experience in the position she is training, so it makes for poorly trained staff coming in.

    Advice to Management

No point in giving advice to management that genuinely does not care what you have to say

I have been working at Metropolitan Utilities District full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, retirement/pension. Moved up quickly because I worked hard and did my job. Really enjoy what I do and will be here until I retire.

    Cons

Technology challenged but getting better. Many who work here are long term employees and do the bare minimum because they can. The Union protects them and they know it and take full advantage of it. Lot's of seniority and tenure chest puffing here, my advice would be to just get in, do your job and keep your head down and you will be recognized as it is not very hard to outwork the old timers who are coasting by waiting to retire. Also, don't miss but a day or two your first year or they will let you go before you 1 year probation is up.

    Advice to Management

    Keep working on improving technology
