I worked at Metso full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work life balance and pay. Opportunity to travel. No micromanagement. There's little down time, so you will always have work to do

    Cons

Lack of diversity. This is discouraging. At times it feels as if others don't respect those that don't look like them

    Advice to Management

Listen rather than hear what employees express.

The most senior management is in Finland and therefore completely out of touch. Make more of an effort to visit offices outside your comfort zone.

    Pros

There are many great people that work here. Very skilled and hard working.
They have great products that are very different from other companies.
Truly a global company from sales, manufacturing, engineering, and customers.

    Cons

Has really had a hard time adjusting to a slowdown in the minerals business.
Has made some really bad decisions that will hurt the business going forward.
Change leadership and operating processes way to often.

    Advice to Management

Pick something and stick with it to see if it actually works. People who where involved with bad decisions should be left go.

too may managers, very top heavy. lower pay, little to no bonuses, very few did all the work while management was too worried about the numbers and not paying attention to actually fixing the problem. to many redundant mistakes due to copy and pasting old design drawings. they got rid of the most experienced people and left the less experienced people to do the work. no recognition of good work. low man on totem pole treated like they are disposable

    Advice to Management

get rid of all the levels of management and pay attention to the people that are actually doing the work are saying.
