I have been working at Miami Children's Health System full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Quick decision making. Ease of access to departments and resources. Growing steadily and good working relationship. Staff is caring. Doctors do their best everyday. Nurses care for patients. Flexible schedules. Excellent training programs offered for free. Certifications are paid for which is really nice.

    Cons

senior leaders lack strategy, transparency and definition of empowerment. CEO is great at talking but that’s it...no follow through. does. He’s the joke among staff. He manages by fear. They eliminated 10 director positions - long tenure, good people, productive, respected - to create fear and instability. people are disengaged and productivity is super low. Staying silent is the best way to protect your job. Act dumb and you’re a winner. We all tell other that everyday. If you speak up you’re gone the next day. It’s like living the Cuban oppression one more time. .

    Advice to Management

Try honesty and transparency for a change. Stop overlooking staff needs and focus on happy employees to get to happy family. There’s no other way. Be authentic and real. People are not dumb. We know what’s happening. No one trusts administration. Managing by fear works with engineers, it will not work with patient care providers. We work with people not machines.

I have been working at Miami Children's Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A great company with excellent benefits. The education department is the best I have ever had the pleasure to work with.

    Cons

No accountability for managers and directors from upper management. If you are lucky to work in a department with good management it is an excellent place to work. Unfortunately this is rarely the case at this once great institution.

    Advice to Management

Good employees don't leave jobs, they leave bad management. What has the turnover rate in your department been lately?

    Pros

    Coffee and cups are fee.

    Cons

Abuse is accepted, performance evaluations are based on what random people say about you, rather than your actual deliveries, managers are the ones who work the less and the culture is clearly a joke.

    Advice to Management

Stick to facts, hire competent people rather than friends and reward results rather than "preferred team members".

Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Executive Management team is only focused on the dollars and not the staff.

Practice what you preach. Senior Management does not practice the MCHS way (the values they expect all staff to follow).
