I have been working at Michael Garron Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They will hire whoever is available so if you are looking to branch into a field or are a new graduate it is a good place to get your career started.

    Cons

Can't retain employees. Upper management (Directors) put wayyyyy too much on managers plates which in turn the managers dump on their teams. Everyone has a bad attitude and feels over worked and under payed.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate the responsibilities delegated to managers. You can't have one person being paid one salary to manage 3+ separate departments.

I have been working at Michael Garron Hospital full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Supportive, encouraging, and positive environment with room to grow quickly. The small size of the hospital allows you to network and collaborate easily and allows quick growth within the company. Also from a health professional standpoint, you work independently often and therefore develop troubleshooting skills that are useful when working alone, due to the smaller amount of patients/beds.

    Cons

Like most other hospitals, they never want to give the unions basic things and are always trying to reduce budgets which ultimately affect the workers. Although, the union reps do their best (and in my view, do a good job) at keeping the employees' interests at heart when negotiating.

    Advice to Management

Budget cuts ALWAYS put a strain on the workers and front-line employees, which will ALWAY affect the patient directly.. Patients are keen to notice things like this as well, and it affects stress levels of the workers.

I have been working at Michael Garron Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nurses are supportive of each other on my unit.

    Cons

Management is cheap on staffing, probably so that they can receive their fiscal year bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Recognize that understaffed and overpopulated units are a bad mix.
