    Pros

emerging market on American territory and business , it catches consumers when they walk by , some pieces are interesting to look at .

    Cons

Horrible management from all levels of control all over , don't have adequate training to lead a team and follows the orders of upper management in negative ways

    Advice to Management

Employees knows what their mission is , there's no need to surround them constantly with yardsticks and measurements every chance you have, be professional and you will see a difference with the business . No Job worth doing breaks down measurable tiny parts.

    Pros

The pay was decent...until you factor in how many hours you actually work...

    Cons

This company expects you to work 6 days a week, 12 hrs a day as an MIT. On top of this, you are expected to train from home on your own time.

You are expected to travel out of town a few times a month on your dime.

    The targets are very unrealistic.

The product is very cheap and poorly made.

You will be required to recite a lengthy script like a robot which will make you look/feel like a fool and alienate customers.

The atmosphere- unprofessional (your RM will yell and swear at you) dishonest, sexist, ageist, and HR is not even aware of proper labour laws and employment standards in Ontario and give you MAJOR attitude when you inform them of this.

Everyday I wake up grateful that I no longer work for this shady, shady company.

Check the turnover rate- it is ridiculous. There is clearly a major problem with the way this company is being operated.

    Advice to Management

Smarten up and stop hiring sleazy upper management and incompetent HR.

    Pros

Focused and Progressive Company. A leader in their markets. Cover international markets in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and United States.

    Cons

Find it difficult to accept outsiders. Central Core has been together for many years, it becomes a strength and weakness.

I worked at Michael Hill full-time

    Pros

Some of the people that work with the company are good people. Enjoyed working with and made some lasting friendships.

    Cons

Expectations too high for sales targets, expected hours and commitment to work (no work-life balance) and too much pressure from management to "buy in" to the entire sales culture. As much as they preach to "be different" and "original", no room for creativity or freedom to stray from "very structured" culture.

I worked at Michael Hill full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The sales staff are great

    Cons

The managers at the store in schaumburg, feel that they can take salepersons commission, gossip and treat the sales staff as if they are subhuman. The upper management is no better. It is a horrible place to work. The base pay is horrendous and the commission structure is terrible. Not to mention, that there is extreme favoritism within the company. They often make sexist remarks and steal sales.

    Advice to Management

fire all the management positions in the US, including upper management and start fresh.

I worked at Michael Hill full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation was good if proven a good and strong candidate.

    Cons

After reviewing several statements, I must disagree with many. The only Con is that it is a strong sales environment to work at. However, if you are able to be persuasive enough to close sales while having fun at work, you thrive and be rewarded. I can see why many complain about this company with their strong sales culture, but if you are driven to succeed, you will succeed in this company.

    Advice to Management

You have a strong team of management and sales professionals. Your leadership is solid, and through past history, I believe that this company will succeed in the near future.
