I worked at Michael Kors full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pretty office, benefits, events and looks good on a resume.

    Cons

Every promise of growth made to me by management was a lie and never happened. Nobody stands up to nasty attitudes, that behavior is actually promoted. My manager didn't talk to me for more than 10min a month yet is still able to some how give an annual review? Not sure how that works and also makes the entire review invalid since it's made up based off of personal feelings. Men are paid WAY more than women regardless of experience. (invoices are left on the public server, so this is actually a fact not an opinion.)

    Advice to Management

    Be transparent, honest and involved.

"There are good things about this job, but overall a pretty toxic workplace"

I have been working at Michael Kors full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was okay, room to advance, good discount, free wardrobe.. kind of, lots of opportunity to build a client book, achievable sales goals

    Cons

There are a surplus of managers, many of whom have sales goals, meaning the managers are often competing with you, snatching your sales, rolling their eyes at you, etc. This aggressive environment lends itself towards a lot of conflict that goes unresolved. Clients are often left awkwardly standing as stylists argue with each other about them. I was once yelled at by a manager in front of a client. When sick with flu, I was literally told no one is allowed to call out sick unless you are in the hospital. You will be standing the whole shift and you aren’t really allowed to take 5 or anything like that aside from your lunch. If you go to a manager in effort to resolve conflict, you risk being accused of making excuses or being unprofessional. The *many* managers here are not there to support you. They are there to make sure money is being made. The dress code is strict and they don’t care if the wardrobe they assign you is comfortable, even though you do have to pay the tax on it. Overall, there is no work-life balance here.

    Advice to Management

I’ve heard too many conversations in which you complain about employee retention, yet you remain unreceptive to feedback and don’t seem to be proactive in creating a harmonious workplace. There are too many of you for there to be so many unresolved concerns. Stop enabling and tolerating aggressive behavior. The clients notice it, often leave because of it, it’s awkward for everyone involved, and it is not consistent with the values of this brand. This could be a very fun and exciting place to work if only these issues and behaviors were resolved.

I worked at Michael Kors part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company is all about numbers. The sales floor is competitive but not tense. The wardrobe is definitely a perk. Performance reviews are based more than just sales, like clienteling for instance. You have a chance to make up for things you are not the strongest on with things you are great at.

    Cons

Yearly reviews are not always done yearly.
The wardrobe perk is not "free" as advertised by hiring managers. It can sometimes cost an arm and a leg. Dress code is pretty strict. No outside clothing or accessories can be worn and nails have to me the most neutral colors possible.
