I worked at Michaels Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun, always on toes, made good friends.

    Cons

Pay is lousy for what you do, and when it comes time for raises, they reward the people who don't show up, or the people who vanish in the middle of their shift.

I worked at Michaels Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a job that paid slightly higher than minimum wage.

    Cons

Store Manager knew less than assistant manager, changing work hours, understaffed, no raises, no open door policy as they claim, too much work for time scheduled, staff not properly trained, no employee discipline, hours constantly being cut.

    Advice to Management

    Train managers and employees better.

I worked at Michaels Stores part-time

    Pros

The coworkers made the job fun and you get a discount.

    Cons

There's poor management and very little to no training and being scheduled to work a full week and then be told you'll only be working one day that week.

    Advice to Management

    Give better training.

I worked at Michaels Stores part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

My coworkers were some of the coolest people and most of my managers have been lovely. Hours are super flexible. Product discount is pretty good.

    Cons

Custom framers are handling expensive, sometimes irreplaceable art pieces and doing so much more than the average employee for not much more than the average wage. Way too high stress for such poor money. Don't expect to be trained hands-on, either. You get a computer program, a little time to watch, and then you're basically thrown into it bc the store just doesn't get enough hours to train.

I worked at Michaels Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible, fun work environment.

    Cons

After the economy crash management has become very aggressive in reaching sale quotas in specialty departments (such as the frame shop).

    Advice to Management

More emphasis on quality than quantity will keep happy customers and employees.
