    Pros

It is a nice environment. Many people are friendly and caring.

I have been working at Michigan State University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

It had a reasonable reputation for research

    Cons

It has suffered from having inept presidents who were not themselves scholars for decades. There is hope with the new president. However, most members of the board of trustees are corrupt or useless or both.

I have been working at Michigan State University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

At a university this size you will find SOME good people at every level.

    Cons

Toxic bro/sports culture among the students. Stupid long-term policy of promoting administrators from within. Idiotic legacy of hiring presidents who have no experience with academia, or at least with teaching and research. Obsession with metrics and image at the expense of substance. Currently imploding in the wake of the Nassar scandal, with continual mismanagement. Morale among faculty and staff in the toilet.

I worked at Michigan State University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Wonderful colleagues and large resources for research.

    Cons

The administration is often devious, finding ways to make a buck are often more important than the goal. Top heavy administration. Make rules that they themselves refuse to follow. (to short for examples here)
