    Pros

In general, co workers are held accountable for slacking off, inappropriate behavior, and attendance. It's your basic, old school wafer fab experience.

    Cons

Old technology, greedy management and CEO, not very clean "clean" room, lax safety standards, worse industry pay in the area.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so greedy. Pay your employees what they deserve, stop promoting suck ups and favorites and base reviews on merit, not how much you like someone. Stop treating operators like expendable trash.

    Pros

    Good benefits. Compressed work weeks.

    Cons

Pay isn't too great. Feet hurt a lot due to a lot of standing and walking around.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees better because they work very hard. Make the boots more comfortable if possible.

I have been working at Microchip Technology full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fairly relaxed work environment. Love the compressed work week. Good benefits, including free clinic onsite.

    Cons

High attrition, mediocre pay, low and inconsistent raises. They absolutely refuse to pay better no matter how many people complain.

Currently cutting back staff like crazy, but the same workload, so we have to do a lot more work for the same pay. Work is quickly becoming high-stress and the positive culture is no longer.

    Advice to Management

A decent wage is important and necessary.

I have been working at Microchip Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Usual work schedule is 3 days on and 4 days off, then alternates with 4 days on and 3 days off. Give plenty of time outside work to do other things.

    Cons

Working in a bunny suit gets hot but you do get used to after a while.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees complaints with an open mind; this will help keep them happy and avoid unnecessary turnover.

I have been working at Microchip Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Long Weekends, no question about it. That's what makes it worthwhile working at Microchip. We work 12 hour days each. One week it'll be 3 days on and 4 days off. The next week will be 4 days on and 3 days off. Plus, although many do not take advantage of it, MCHP does reimburse for tuition costs for those who want to pursue college education. It doesn't have to be specifically related to the wafer industry, it can be Business or many other areas as well.

    Cons

Wearing a bunny suit all day long can get hot and stuffy, but you do get used to it after working there a while.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the opinions and concerns of the employees, especially those who have shown their loyalty over many years. Take them seriously and do your best to address those concerns in your regular manager meetings.

I have been working at Microchip Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

not micro-managed, self empowered, treated like a real engineer and not a glorified technician just expected to take the heat for down equipment, aggressive with buying other companies to help company grow more.

    Cons

Pay raises don't come often at all, 401K matching isn't great, vacation policy is just okay but lacking compared to other semiconductor companies, blackout period for trading stock is 50% of every quarter so ridiculously long not to be able to get to your stock to sell when you want.

    Advice to Management

Restore annual raises instead of the quarterly review that makes no sense and reduces morale severely since no one ever knows when a raise will be while yearly at least you know everyone gets a raise or everyone doesn't.
