A little late to the 21st century workplace. They just began letting people to wear shorts. They have a slight parking issue

    Advice to Management

Don’t talk about other employees behind backs

I worked at Micron Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Plenty of work, good salary.

    Cons

Management over reacts to below expectations on quarterly stock announcements. Frequent lay offs make workers reluctant to share information. Most areas in Boise R&D seem to be understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Don't make knee jerk reactions to quarterly results. Have a long term perspective. Your employees are your most valuable asset, treat them as such.

I worked at Micron Technology as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Each intern is assigned their own supervisor. Interns participate in extensive training programs. Executive lunches are held several times throughout the summer to allow interns to meet top executives. Meaningful projects are given so that interns can contribute to company, and small projects are also given so that interns can see day-to-day work of engineers.

    Cons

My working space wasn't that great, there are lots of employees and not much space. The new CEO is building more office space to remedy this. Big company and it's easy to get pidgeon-holed doing your little thing, but if you take some initiative this won't happen to you.

    Advice to Management

Get more office space, and share more information about the big picture -- who Micron's key customers are and what parts are most critical.

    Pros

The people that work there are amazing and talented. Good benefits.

    Cons

New CEO and new VP's do not know what they are doing. This company was founded with mid-management decisions and bottom to top style management. Now its managed top down with authoritarian rule.

    Advice to Management

Stop sending critical R&D and IP technology overseas.

    Pros

Micron is filled with some of the most committed, intelligent, driven people one would hope to work with during their career.

    Cons

Decision making by upper management is sub par. The meaning of "follow through" is non-existent.

    Advice to Management

Communicate. If you want to be transparent, you need to communicate continuously, not only in good/bad times.
