I have been working at Micron Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of time off compared with other companies, though sick time and personal time are a single pool.
Family oriented culture, including flexible work schedules for salaried employees.

    Cons

Not allowed to telecommute except with specific permission from management for each instance.
Track to management and other advancement is not well defined, more of a "Good Ol' Boy" network.

    Advice to Management

Make path for advancement more clear. It will help with retention.

I have been working at Micron Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Modern equipment. Most coworkers are highly intelligent and skilled.

    Cons

Frequent layoffs, raises frozen for years, bonus canceled frequently, health insurance more expansive than ever if you have a family. Entrenched management not open to new ideas. Least fun job I have ever worked at. As an example no one would even think of dressing up for Halloween.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should review the performance of mid level managers. Lower level employees are exhaustively reviewed but maybe you should think about reviewing managers performance and having their reports review them as well. Managers are vengeful for negative comments in the employee review/suggestions surveys.

I have been working at Micron Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Operators, Techs, Engineers, and Supervisors.

Education assistance; however, it needs to support department (my bosses) goals or else classes will be denied.

    Cons

Expected to work 55+ hours week or else you will be up for layoffs. I recommend that you be the top in your group and you will be fine.

    Politics are really bad...

Restrooms are messy and stalls always full, you might need to wait or walk 15 minutes until you find a restroom stall that is not occupied. There is blood on the stall walls frequently that does not get cleaned which can stay there for months. Typically on the back doors of the stalls...

    Advice to Management

Change, everyone changes except the management and they never get laid-off ever under no circumstances.

Cost cutting has gone too far to the point where you cannot even expand the bathrooms or pay someone to clean them properly.

Being asked to manipulate data to support something my boss told higher management about is getting old...

I have been working at Micron Technology full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great values, great people, great benefits, and great location.

    Cons

Learning curve is very steep and requires a lot of self learning for new engineers. Perhaps the salary and sign bonus could be a bit higher, but for the region it is pretty good.

    Pros

Pay is competive and benefits are good

    Cons

Each manager and department runs almost as its own business when it comes to hiring employees.....you have to make sure to network and build strong relationships in order to move up at this company.

    Advice to Management

Build a stronger culture of collaboration and committment to excellence

I worked at Micron Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This is tough. I can't say anything good about the products, tools, pay, culture, people, ethics, even the food. It's a factory. If you are good being a factory line employee and want a steady pay check, knock yourself out.

    Cons

    Dear God...

The place is endemic of failed technology and business plans. Most long term "4 digit" employees are simply doing what they can to spare their job and retire. They have created fiefdoms and rampant politics and are simply waiting to retire.

The newer generation is comprised of weak engineers in a 3rd place DRAM company.

They love technology by name only, but have no tenacity to see anything but dumb DRAM production. Remember all their temporal investments that went NOWHERE? NOR Flash, solar, projectors, CMOS sensors, RFID, Automata Processor, HMC, and the list goes on. They look high tech but play like a factory from the rust belt in 1951.

Another aspect is their failure in attracting talent. They attract whomever will come for pennies on the dollar and celebrate world class failures from Intel and government labs. They look impressive but haven't shipped products and lead failing teams.

There is rampant misappropriation of funds to hide pet projects. This is wrong by all standards of business conduct.

Even the core DRAM business is broken. The tools and processes for modern semi design and semi custom flows don't exist. A modern EE graduate will date their skills joint Micron.

    Advice to Management

    Wipe the whole place clean.

    Advice to Management

More events to meet interns at the beginning of the internship
