I worked at Micron Technology as an intern

    Pros

The work is good, the exposure is really good. Everyone works really hard, and puts in extra hours to get their work done.

    Cons

    - Lots of downtime. Projects are not planned well, the organization is lacking.
    - Many interns along with me had a lot of idle time. Managers are too busy.
    - No work life balance. In the 2 months that I was there 3 Managers quit and went to other places.

    Advice to Management

    - We understand that the management is busy, but if it’s planning to hire interns then atleast have a set plan/project ready for them.
    - Give your intern time, pushing back meetings with them will not help them or you.

I have been working at Micron Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pretty good benefits. Good pay for the area but not compared to global competitors.

    Cons

Not a fun place to work. You are treated like a robot. Constant threat of layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Remove mid level good old boys managers and get new ones who are open to new ideas. Also stop with the constant threat of layoffs. Its making employees stressed out and want to leave to other companies who don't constantly threaten their employees.

I have been working at Micron Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good pay for the area

    Cons

Constant layoffs, done very unprofessionally. New CEO has everyone fearful for their jobs - he has no ties to the company or area, and is slashing jobs. First person he picked for his right hand man had to resign within a month for insider trading allegations.

I worked at Micron Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Can learn a lot on the job, training is readily available.

    Cons

Generally the only time you'll see a raise is if you are promoted. They tell you there are yearly 'market surveys', but in my 16 years at Micron I only saw a few years where they actually completed surveys. Bonuses went from 4/yr to 2, benefits shrank.

    Advice to Management

Quit lying to employees, manufacturing in the US is shrinking by the year.

I have been working at Micron Technology full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Paycheck
    Stock Options for certain positions
    Industry experience
    Free coffee, water, and ice...
    Chairs available in some areas

    Cons

    Unstable
    Untrustworthy management
    Do not promote from within
Layoffs and record profits in the same quarter

    Advice to Management

Just ask the countless Engineers and Technicians that you have laid off and replaced with people who have NO industry experience. If you can't figure out that witholding pay raises and promotions for years, while hiring and making record profits drives away your best talent, any advice that I can offer here will not help you.

I worked at Micron Technology full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

As a technician you have a big company with many people not willing to put their hands on equipment. You will get great hands on experience.

    Cons

Technicians are expected to do all jobs including engineering. Bad culture. Good ole boy system for advancment. Technicians either work or fly under the radar. Only 5 out of 12 on a crew actually know how to work on the equipment.

    Advice to Management

1.Just move over seas. If you want to pay H-1b wages stop bringing them here go over seas. 2. If you treat technicians like janitors you will get people with janitor experience and education...

    Pros

Good Company if you're working in one of the core businesses

    Cons

Group think company culture discourages innovation despite lip service to the contrary. Bottom of the bucket also-ran performer in SSDs.

    Cons

Poor cohesive culture, leaves employees feeling isolated rather than as part of a team.
