I worked at Microsemi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of interesting technology and wide portfolio of products

    Cons

Not much concern for employees. Microsemi buys companies then has a series of RIF's to achieve its goal of 60% GM and 30% GP. Very little organic growth.

    Advice to Management

Microsemi needs to focus on developing its employees so that the company can be more efficient. It seems like the companies that have been the most successful focus on developing there employees.

I worked at Microsemi full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Did a lot of in house promoting.

    Cons

Did not pay fairly, pay seemed to matter more on who your friend was or of you were a woman. Near the end they started hiring female engineers and paying better.

    Advice to Management

Base your raises and merit reviews on performance not if someone is a friend.

    Pros

Management is open to ideas, and constantly changing the organization to adapt to the market or the the non-stop acquisitions made. Constant influx of technologies into the company, and increasing scale make work challenging but fun.

    Cons

With so many acquisitions and changes, some times it is a hard place to navigate.

    Advice to Management

Keep buying, keep evolving, and try to standardize systems to scale better.
