I have been working at Microsemi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Business Units are managed by profitability and growth and are not micromanaged. This leaves them free to be the experts they are on their market segments. It leaves BU heads to run their BUs as they need to.

    Cons

Lots of debt on the balance sheet from acquisitions.

    I worked at Microsemi full-time

    Pros

Some bright and friendly people work there.
    Not many positives beyond that.

    Cons

Company irresponsibly acquires and consolidates with aggressive reductions in staff, making remaining employees overworked and without recognition.

Compensation is sub-par by at least 15% compared to rest of industry.

Bonuses that are promised to top-performing division are later reduced and delayed because company, as a whole, struggles.

Extreme ignorance and disappointing ethics as James Peterson was proven to have lied about his credentials and education, yet is retained as CEO.

No ESPP. Minimal health benefits. Forced use of vacation hours for annual shutdowns.

    Advice to Management

There's a culture of ignorance as some senior management intimidates middle management. Communicate with your team and become aware of what they are doing. Don't just hear what you want to hear. Promote the real difference makers and team players instead of the "yes" people.
