I worked at Microsoft full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company mission and vision is second to none. Benefits are amazing, flexibility for a retail job is unrivaled. You get to use the latest and greatest products and software. One of the best things about the company is that the larger corporation listens to its people out in the field to improve on products and services. Tons of opportunity to learn new things.

    Cons

Very little room for advancement because there are so few stores. There is almost no accountability unless they don't like you. Mixed messaging is common, but the bottom line is that you'll be expected to just do as you're told.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to treat all employees with all of the things that are preached, not only the ones you like. Favoritism is a very real problem within the stores. Accountability on the right people who are not contributing to the success of the stores would be a great change instead of pushing out the people who don't blindly obey. Actually live the values, currently they're just words on a page.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary, benefits, paid trainings, extras, growth if willing to relocate

    Cons

No upward growth locally, new retail store growing pains

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to and act on feedback from the stores to improve the overall experience for customers and associates alike. Keep the current culture because it is positive and energizing for employees, keeps morale up.

    I worked at Microsoft full-time

    Pros

Casual dress. Laid back environment freedom to move around office. Work stations was designed and classy. Management was laid back overall.

    Cons

Not enough personnel on weekends and holidays. Always shifting their responsibilities on others. Negative attitudes, not approachable, or helpful. They tend to hire more inexperience employees than experienced. So the turnover rate is extremely. Lack of communication or relationship building from Human Resource Dept. No kind of Grace with tardies or absenteeism. No support or concern.

    Advice to Management

KEEP adequate staffing for customers as well as controlling overtime margins. Their should be open door policies at All times. Proper training strong relationships within the team. I have been working at Microsoft full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent benefits, stock purchase options, co-workers, customers

    Cons

Inconsistent hours (schedule), very difficult to grow with the company, specialty stores are looked down on, bonus scale for specialty vs full line is bogus,

    Advice to Management

Managers are fine. It's corporate that is disconnected from the store. The looks of our store are not a good representation of Microsoft as a company. I think there could be some money invested into upgrading the older specialty locations so that we can better serve our customers.
