I worked at Microsoft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

All in all, strategy of current leadership is focused on the right areas, and across the board MSFT is a strong organization to work for with a good long-term vision in a highly competitive space.

    Cons

Need to continue the focus on diverse hiring and pay equity.

    Advice to Management

Create more opportunities for remote work to align with the way we're changing work.

I worked at Microsoft full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Managers cared, there was a lot of sharing to succeed, the benefits and pay were great. Job security was good as long as you performed well.

    Cons

Big, big company with variations in quality of talent as more support is outsourced. Microsoft admits when it was wrong internally but has a hard time jumping through all the hoops to get customers help fixing things, it takes a long time to get approvals since the dollar amounts are so high.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier for us (customer facing folks) to fix things without a chain of approvals.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

New CEO, New vision, new attitude. The company is moving forward and the direction seems good. People are energized again and walls between groups are coming down

    Cons

Deep in the throws of change, going to take a while to settle out. As vision turns into team and individual goals there's a lot of churn and false starts. The re-orgs will be good then they're done, but right now many people are running scared

    Advice to Management

Be clear about short and long term vision
