    Pros

Flexible working hours. Great learning opportunity. Good career growth.

    Advice to Management

Be open, be neutral, be fair and give chance to others like how you receive your chances.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Technology specific roles are always working with the latest and greatest software, there are always changes to look forward to from year to year
    - Always equipped with the latest MSFT OS and software
    - Hardware refresh cycle is 3 years, quick exceptions here and there, you are always provided with the right tools
    - Lateral career moves are encouraged and provide good upwards mobility
    - Compensation is good, in comparison with local IT vendors
    - Work life balance is easily manageable, working remotely is normal

    Cons

    - Vertical career progress is excruciatingly slow
    - Customer facing roles have to deal with unrealistic expectations of themselves and the company offerings due to the price of doing MSFT business vs the regional business market
    - It always feels like you're working in a small subsidiary and rarely feels like you're part of a giant corporation
    - There are way too many processes and procedures surrounding work
    - Stack ranking is officially dead but still exists in the afterlife

    Advice to Management

    - Get rid of tiresome processes that interfere with day to day operations and that impinge on work life balance

I have been working at Microsoft as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working at Microsoft opens door to other opportunities later on if you do decide to leave. But if you're a contract staff, and you don't get hired as a Full Time, you better quit.

    Cons

Contract staff don't get invited to ANY company events, that's right NONE. No annual dinners, no off-sights nothing. You don't get bonus or a raise. Even your email is different from the rest of the full time employees. Your job is to take the load off Full Time Employee, and that's it. You could wait couple of years for the FTE Manager to vouch to make you full time, but that will not happen.

I worked at Microsoft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

International exposure to conference and access to global team knowledge

    Cons

Yearly employee performance review through stack ranking created distrust among peers and selfishness in work environment. Favouritism breeds office politics.
