I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

One of the best companies in the world. I've been here since 1995 and I have seen a few things. I can't imagine working somewhere else, but maybe I could.

    Cons

Some things, not easy to articulate. People, expectations, alpha.

    Advice to Management

Keep it real for old timers.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Smart engineers have the ability to do very well here. Take ownership of your career and your product.

    Cons

Lots of employees means that it's difficult to stand out if you aren't one of the hardest working and brightest.

    Advice to Management

One phrase "Analysis Paralysis". We need to rework our processes on our older codebases to enable faster innovation. We need testers back on some products too.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great health package
    - Good work-life balance
    - Employer really cares (great HR!)

    Cons

    - Empire building can be seen
    - Microsoft tends to throw money at problems instead of holding people accountable; too many people take their jobs for granted and don't bring in their A game to work (great place if you are hardworking, detail-oriented and humble - easy to rise among peers)

    Advice to Management

Don't throw money at problems. Hold people accountable.

    Pros

Everything is a pro. The people. Ability to move latterly and learn. Work/life balance and so much more. I'm in services. Other departments have other cultures.

    Cons

There aren't really any. Free lunch everyday would give great but I'm just trying to fill the twenty word minimum here
